We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been a lover of unique accessories and fashion. I love how simple things can elevate and transform an outfit from basic to luxe. When I thought about opening a business I wanted to do something meaningful and fun. Something that transformed women’s wardrobe without breaking the bank. I wanted to create an experience with each piece. Knowing that these pins are the cherry on top. I believe I’ve done just that with Maad Pins! Maad Pins is the rebirth of the brooch in a modern way.

Maad Pins is a retail accessory store available online and a part of popular vending markets in the Atlanta Metro area.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Right now I am most proud of my business being in the spotlight again after taking a break to evolve. I am glad to be back at it again, transforming women’s lives through their image and expressing that through fashion. What sets me apart is that I understand the audience I serve and I put myself in their shoes.
I can only hope for my business to continue to grow and become a household name. I’m a dedicated business woman and creative. God, hard work, tenacity, and support from my friends and family has gotten me to where I am. I don’t give up easily and Im always willing to figure it out. Thats just part of the authentic journey, paved with valuable lessons. The most valuable thing I’ve learned is that people are only excited as you are about what you do.

I want the world to know that Maad Pins is an experience they wont forget and about more than just shopping for their needs. Its a conversation about how we see ourselves and how we influence others style around us. Self expression is important and Maad Pins gives that a voice.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my friends visit me in Atlanta I take them to Suite Food Lounge. I am a sucker for live bands, good food, and drinks. They just get it right every time. My favorite hangout spot is Atlantic Station. Theres nothing like shopping and dining all in the same place. Not to mention the outdoor entertainment and events are so fun and interactive. Now you know we got to see a Hawks game or a Braves game while in the city and of course catch a day party. My favorite day party is Cafe Circa’s rooftop R&B day parties and last but certainly not least, a good old Atlanta Sunday Brunch. My weakness for a good brunch is The Breakfast Bar in Duluth. OMG..the food is euphorically good. Then a little Top Golf. Thats my idea of a great weekend with the girls.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Omeika Westry, business owner of the Reigny Day Planner. She is my mentor, sister in Christ and friend. She is the voice of logic and reason in my life and definitely a supporter of my business. We all need high vibrating people in our lives and she is that for me. I thank her for all she has done. I will continue to be that same light as well, for others around me.
