We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Well, when I look back at all of the risk that I have taken in my life, I see them as opportunities. Although some failed, I would have never known my potential or the courage that I had in order to put one foot in front of the other to take those risk. Taking risks has been pivotal in my life. Recently i took the risk of moving out of a home that i was renting to go live in my jeep compass, just making a move like that has enhanced my life tremendously. It also made room for me to focus on what makes life more precious to me.

What should our readers know about your business?

Lupus Matters Corporation, is my baby. It started out as a hashtag on Facebook and with me being transparent about my daily struggles with lupus, kidney disease and congestive heart failure. It grew into advocating, educating and inspiring newly diagnosed Lupus patients to know that they can live a full life with lupus. We’ve also done numerous community events and have collaborated with other businesses and non-profit organizations. We’ve been awarded several awards as well as proclamations throughout Georgia.
Mo’Freedom Productions is not your typical brand, its considered to be a motivational mindset mentoring BOOSTER, which encourages individuals with lupus and other chronic illnesses to never give up no matter how uncomfortable life may get. Mo’Freedom Productions, has created a space where you can be unapologetically free to live a life that makes you happy.
Grand Concierge LLC, is an Atlanta based Cleaning Company.
I love having something to do because at 48 years old, I’m becoming more devoted to making time for self care, which plays a major role in keeping you emotionally healthy. So always remember to hit the reset button on life.
I’m most proud & excited about being able to have the peace and freedom that comes with this nomadic way of living.
Getting to where I am today business-wise, has been a process. My businesses  have taught me so much about the up’s and downs of entrepreneurship and how staying focused and building good relationships can help grow your company tremendously.
When I look back at all of the challenges that have come with these brands, I see them as opportunities. Although some failed, I would have never known my potential or the courage that I had in order to put one foot in front of the other to take those risk.
There are so many lessons that I’ve learned but the one that I will leave you with is: not for one moment should you EVER think that you are starting too late in life to try something new, off-the-wall, daring or something that you’ve wanted to do from years and years ago. It’s ultimately up to you, so put your mind to it and go LIVE YOUR LIFE!!
What I’d like the world to know about my brand & story is that people have known me for so many years because of my advocacy work with lupus but I want them to take a look into my world as a nomad. Learn from me and my experiences and that you should never judge a book by its cover.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The older that I get in age the more adventurous I want to be, because FUN CAN BE HAD at any age. I’d want my friend to experience different ATL restaurants, although I haven’t eaten meat nor seafood in 12 years, I still love a good restaurant. So, we are certainly going to eat good.

We will be visiting, some of the tourist spots like MLK, World of Coke, Botanical Gardens but if they are into health things we definitely can hike the Providence Canyon State Park.

The Battery is a great location. We can take in a comedy show. Sports in the “A” is a whole vibe. So catching a game is always fun. There are so many things to do here in Atlanta no one should be disappointed.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I certainly want to let them know that their love and constant prayers have meant so much to me.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my biggest supporters like my Father Leonard, My childhood friend Jackie, my brother Ty and my friends Tricey, Kisha, Georgia & Tosha they were some of the first ones that supported this crazy idea of me living in my car. They have kept me pushing through a number of difficult, as well as delightful times and that definitely does not go unrecognized. So, I will dedicate this shoutout to them.
