Meet Miracle Bennett | Creative: Director, Writer, Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miracle Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miracle, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
God has a way of showing you your purpose when you are going through the struggles of life. During some of the most troubling times of my life, art has always been there lifting me up. Whether that meant performing on stage, working on set, or even seeing plays and movies, my love for the art remained consistent and in return I began rejuvenated and inspired. I knew from a young age that art had the power to change lives. The power to bring joy when you need it the most. Through my art I hope to inspire the next generation to use there creative voices to telling true, raw, complex yet beautiful stories that shifts and elevates the culture.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most excited about finding my voice in this huge creative space. I can wear a lot of hats whether that’s acting, directing, writing, or even photography. I’ve had this internal battle for sometime now trying to figure out which one I want to purse the most. After listening and talking to fellow creatives and artists, I realized I don’t have to pick, I can do it all. Each one serves a purpose and works hand in hand when it comes to creating for me.
Just like any journey when following your dreams, there are ups and downs. Some hurting more than others at times. Yet, I believe God doesn’t give you dreams not to pursue them and it’s our responsibility to continue even when we don’t know what will happen next.
Through my work I want to tell truthful, raw, unapologetic, daring stories that help shift the culture upward to new heights in all ways possible using what we learned from those that came before and incorporating that with our own creativity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friends and I love the arts! I would most likely take them to the art exhibits at the High Museum to see the new Sonya Clark exhibition! Followed by a play at the Alliance Theatre, or a free dance class in the city. An artsy activity of some sort followed by some good food is always a go-to for my friends and I.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say my village. My village of family, friends, supporters and collaborators. Those that know me the best, know I’m my biggest critic and I a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my creative process. They remind almost daily that it doesn’t have to be perfect, live in the moment and just do it! Create, create, create until it all makes sense. There are days where I feel like giving up yet those around me encourage and inspire me to keep pushing, teaching me to appreciate the journey as much as my passion for the destination.
