We had the good fortune of connecting with Mignonna Vickers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mignonna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process when creating Faith Tax Solutions was I had to replace my income because I just lost my job I have kids to feed. So at that time fear could not set up quite yet but later on in building the business it definitely did. I overcame my fear by staying focused and telling myself that you can do this you got this, my mother praying, fiancée telling me I got your back friend and family cheering me on. Faith Tax Solutions became bigger than me and just needing to replace my income for my family. It became part of a community. Here I am six years today helping families change the financial narrative in their lives and helping them to start there business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Faith Tax Solutions is not just a seasonal tax office like most offices. We take pride in assisting our clients in more than just tax filing. As we are continuing to grow with our small business customers, we are still focused on our individual clients too. We adding additional services to our company such as life insurance, investment services, and we have added our nonprofit company to the industry as well. Getting to this point has not been a hard or easy move but it more of obedience and listening to my clients, spouse, parents and friends. Their conversations with me in general help me to recreate the services our clients need or people we haven’t reached yet need. Being in business I have learned so many lessons but, the most important is time management. You have to take time out for your personal growth, rest and relax. I have experienced what exhaustion looks like and it’s not a good feeling or look. I want the world to know that Faith Tax Solutions is just not a tax office it’s a community for the community. I have other business associates or partners that can assist if our office can’t help you.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, I am shouting out my amazing mother Yolanda Wesley. Through helping me raise my kids while I went back to school , to supporting my dream at the time working for the government. My mother has played a huge role in my life. I have watched her go back to school work a full time job and receive not only her associates, bachelor but her Master’s degree. She owned her own nail salon while I was in elementary school, kept her mater cosmology license up to date Asher back up plan. Watching her growing up from being a little girl to grown woman now, she as help me become the person I am today.
