We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success to be honest is pain and fear. The pain from my past and the constant failures that I’ve overcome are what sparks the consistent fire to succeed. The fear of never reaching my full potential as a man, father then business man is what keeps me hungry. Also the fear of leaving this earth without being able to leave my kids a legacy to remember me from drives me each and everyday.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career is production. The last 2 years I’ve worked with ESPN and have worked over 20+ college football games. I do camera and camera grip/ utility. I’ve been in the industry over 5 years and have worked in television, film, reality and sports. I’ve been apart of many productions for different companies like MGM, paramount tv, BET and more… I’m proud to say I’m the only men that I know from my side of town to do what I’m doing in the industry. I’m the biggest inspiration because I did all this after my life in the streets and this is what helped me get out the streets. I kinda finessed my whole way in the industry. I never went to school nor got a degree in this production field. I knew nothing when I came in. I literally worked my butt off and made the right connections. It’s a long but very interesting story I’d love to go deeper on another time. Bt the vision is to show other kids from my side of town that they can do it too. With all odds against you. You still can be great!

I’m also a coach and trainer that focuses on skill development for mostly football athletes in and around my community. I’ve trained some of the best highschool and middle school athletes in Clayton county that are actively playing at this moment. My first class of kids that I started training and coaching years ago are now some top freshman and sophomores.
My brand is call UVU which stands for you vs YOU! Which is something I tell the kids and also show them, life is You vs YOU as well. So on there journeys to be the best athlete they possibly can if they win the battle against self first then they will be putting themselves in a much better position. I take on a mentoring role for a lot of kids in my community while being a full time single father with custody of my oldest son.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest, I’m not outside like I use to be. So I’m not the best person to answer this question in detail. I’m more of a google and Eventbrite type of guy if we need to step out for some fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my kids. Especially my oldest 2. Kamaree Moore (15) my oldest son has been with me since 7 years old. We’ve grown together, he was with me when I was just a boy and has watched my journey to being the man I am. Along the way I’ve always stopped to explain and give perspective of whatever situation we were in at the time. He understands me more than anyone I know. My daughter Journee divae Moore (10) is and has been so much light in my life. She also has influence my growth so much. She makes me be accountable and she is always by my side trying to learn whatever it is I’m doing. Kyree Moore (8) and poppa (2) are my youngest and they keep me on my toes. They are full of love and energy. My kids are my village. It’s literally just me and them. It’s hard for me to even go a week or weekend without my village. They are the ones that really love me, keep it real with me and make sure daddy is always on point. I keep it real with my kids… always have and always real. So our relationship is pure, it’s US!
