We had the good fortune of connecting with Mennie Design and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mennie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
More than a thought, it was an idea! It was in 2020 that in the midst of the pandemic I was in my country Venezuela without a job and living isolated from everything. It was there that I met through social networks with a group of artists from Venezuela and the United States that we came up with the idea of doing a contest and offering all our services, I had not started with Mennie Design and it was thanks to these artists that they gave me the idea of starting to publicize my illustration works and this one that is my life project was born! Soon I began to study and dedicate myself more to graphic design and dedicate myself to the creation of branding for brands.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I want to clarify that I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication in the audiovisual mention. Creating, producing and assembling audiovisuals is my greatest passion beyond the art I dedicate myself to today, I am not a graphic designer but I study every day to offer people quality through my illustrations and designs for brands! I am where I am thanks to my creative spirit that does not like to be in one place, I like to do everything, I like to fend for myself but always counting on the help of those I need because nothing I have achieved has been without the love and support of those around me. I have learned to ask for help when I need it, to learn from others, to learn from other artists who like me live off art and want to be better every day. It is not easy to live off what you love but nothing is impossible when you want to achieve your dreams and even more if you do it with your heart!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best moment of my life and for which I firmly believe that dreams come true was my 15-year trip to Disney. It’s a bit childish but the story behind this experience is what has motivated me to fight for my dreams! I would love it if everyone ever went to Disney, it is the magical world that we have all known since childhood and it is incredible how to let your inner child out once you are there watching that world, many of us should keep that young spirit alive, that child within us who is curious and who is eager to know the world and see that everything is possible and magical because only in this way, we would stop being sad adults who do not believe that nothing is possible, I keep alive my inner girl who is not afraid of the unknown and who Look for more and more! Apart from that, my father always promised me to take me to Disney even if we didn’t have a good economy, but that was his dream and it was a promise that I fulfilled when I was 15 years old, I saw him work hard just to get to get to know the magical world of Disney, he taught me the value of a promise and that when you want something with your heart, you can get it if you fight for it! Once I was in Disney I could see his happy face when I saw that he fulfilled his dream and his promise, since then I knew that everything is possible if you fight for it and more if you do it out of love.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must thank my friends, family and a group of artists from my city who gave me the support, advice and love to be able to realize my dreams and make my passion a lifestyle that leads me to connect with people from many parts of the world who like what I do and with it, I manage to make others happy, including me!
