We had the good fortune of connecting with Mckenzie Mccollum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi McKenzie, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The concept for Mac’s Rac emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic as a direct response to my growing commitment to sustainability and recycling. As I began repurposing my own wardrobe, I realized there was a broader opportunity to address environmental concerns through fashion. This insight inspired me to create Mac’s Rac, a platform dedicated to transforming and recycling clothing, with the goal of promoting eco-friendly practices within the industry.

The journey has been challenging but rewarding. One of the key obstacles was sourcing sustainable materials that aligned with my values, as well as developing a business model that stayed true to those principles. However, each challenge has led to significant milestones, bringing me closer to making a meaningful impact in sustainable fashion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What distinguishes me in this field is my deep personal commitment to environmental stewardship combined with a creative approach to fashion. While many are driven by trends, my work is rooted in a genuine desire to make a positive impact. I blend practical solutions with artistic vision to create a brand that not only meets aesthetic standards but also adheres to sustainable practices.

The journey to establishing Mac’s Rac was not without its challenges. The initial stages required navigating the complexities of sourcing sustainable materials, developing a viable business model, and building a brand from scratch. Overcoming these obstacles involved persistent problem-solving, seeking mentorship, and embracing a mindset of continuous learning.

At its core, Mac’s Rac is about more than just fashion; it’s a movement towards a more sustainable and conscious industry. I want the world to know that every piece we create carries a commitment to reducing waste and promoting ethical practices. Our brand represents a vision where fashion and sustainability go hand in hand, and we are dedicated to inspiring others to join us on this journey.
