We had the good fortune of connecting with Mattie Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mattie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been a creative at heart since a young age. I was kind of lost when I first began college on what I wanted to do. After getting into content creation and building a following on social media, it reassured that I definitely wanted to go a more creative route. I eventually discovered graphic design and immediately knew it was perfect for me. I’m passionate about creating visual experiences that tell a story and inspire others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been a creative person, but when I got to college, I was pretty lost on what I wanted to do as a career. I starting posting more on social media just for fun (from fashion and beauty, to food and home decor) and brands started reaching out to me to work with them to create sponsored content. I really enjoyed it and realized I simply love creating beautiful imagery and find it so rewarding to see a vision come to life. I then took an intro to graphic design class and immediately knew that was what I wanted to do and that it all made sense.

As a graphic designer and content creator, I am passionate about creating aesthetic visual solutions that serve a purpose. My goal is to fully cultivate the visions of my clients and turn those ideas into engaging solutions that will elevate their brand or business. I have a particular love for branding and find it so rewarding helping small businesses bring their vision to life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh that’s a hard one, because my favorite thing to do is try new places around the city!

I think first we would head to Little Five Points to do some exploring–get a coffee at Aurora and stop at Rag-o-rama to do some thrifting. Then, walk the beltine and make a stop at a brewery. One of my favorites is Monday Night Garage. Then for dinner, the options are endless. A few of my favorite ones that also happen to be very aesthetic are Atrium, Mrs. P’s at the Wylie Hotel, or Barcelona Wine Bar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout Piper Broaddus, one of my closest friends and biggest supporters. We met our first day of sculpture class at GSU and she’s been by my side since. As a fellow artist, she uses her creative eye to help me shoot social media campaigns as well as support me with my graphic design business.
