We had the good fortune of connecting with Maisha Rush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maisha, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is honesty. I have always maintained honesty throughout my brand. Continuing to keep people in the loop of the struggles of business, how I got where I am, and where I am going has always made me relatable and trustworthy. It’s important to connect with your clients on a personal level so they know that they can trust you and your professional opinion because they candidly see what works and what doesn’t. I stand by our values both in life and in business. Honesty, Integrity, Transparency, and Self Accountability.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I built this business out of necessity not luxury but has returned to me to be rewarding, and impactful. I got where I am with a lot of sleepless nights, not because of working but because I WASN’T. Rush Consulting Firm drives me. If I’m not working it then I’m thinking about working it. It is truly my passion and I love it. It was NOT easy. The times that it wasn’t easy is when I didn’t believe in myself or trust my gift. In the beginning I compared myself to other coaches/consultants and I would stumble every time. I had to realize that no one can do what I do. They couldn’t offer what I have. I have my own story, my own reason, my own mission and the only one who could deliver was me. I had to go through a process of self accountability and lay all of my cards on the table FOR MYSELF. I am a business owner, wife, and homeschooling mother of ten. I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself. I had to forgive myself so that I could stop self sabotaging and step into the world unknown, then shake it up with my presence. I had to realize, like I want you to, that I deserve all the things I want, the way that I want them, NOW. And its up to me to get it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m actually one of those people who likes to stay home and read/research. But if a friend is in town, we’d go to the battery and feel the breeze on our face and listen to the water and laugh at our troubles. We could go out to Hanks for their delicious greens and swordfish with a nice glass of chardonnay.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Thomas Rush, for being my supporter 100% of the time. My children, all 10 of them, that continuously gas me up and stay ready to help with projects. And Ray Dalio for his book Principles that constantly keep me motivated and strategic.
