We had the good fortune of connecting with Luther Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luther, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In my case there was not much of a thought process. The nonprofit organization (Family Life Restoration Center Inc.) that I had the pleasure of starting, is a calling that was placed on my life by God. God revealed the vision of the organization to me and that was to simply feed, clothe, educate and shelter individuals and families that find themselves in a position of need. Restoring lives one family at a time. I simply excepted the call and although it comes with some Challenges, God never fails to bring us through. I can say where God guides God provides.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Family Life Restoration Center, is a non-profit organization with a mission that is dedicated to educating, feeding, clothing, and sheltering families in need. FLRC is dedicated to the hearts and minds of those in need and is a proven organization that celebrates the gift of giving. For the last fourteen years, we have continually provided assistance to those in need throughout Cobb County and the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. As an organization, we have been able to assist the needs of thousands of people, needs such as but not limited to: emergency food, emergency clothing, hot lunch, hot showers and an array of shelter and medical resources. FLRC not only provides help for the emergency situations of life, but also is dedicated to the daily developmental growth of the children and families of those we serve. We provide a full family fitness health center, a full service computer room for work force development assistance and free public community access for internet service. The demand for daily developmental growth is high in our communities. It takes a lot of hard work to fill such a high demand. Our staff is made up of 90% volunteer and community service workers. Our dedicated staff members strive to provide exceptional, quality and caring service to all who utilize FLRC.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a tough question for me. I have a hand full of Restaurant’s that I like. I’m so involved in FLRC I really don’t get out much
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t mean to be so spiritual but the truth is God deserves all the shout out and glory. There are others that embraced this God given vision and aligned themselves with us and was very instrumental in the success of FLRC. CKS packaging, Raymond M. Cash Foundation, Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral (Bishop Dale C. Bronner). Just to name a few. Also a host of other churches, local businesses and individual friends. Have played major roles in the success of FLRC. We are great full to all who was lead by God to support us.
