We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Felipe Esteves Mameri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luis Felipe, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most significant lesson I’ve learned in my professional journey is this: success ultimately depends on you. No piece of equipment, no colleague, and no circumstance can replace the simple truth that you must show up for yourself every day.
It starts with a shift in mindset. No more bureaucracy, no more excuses. Less overthinking, more action. When there’s no clear path, create one. When opportunities seem nonexistent, make them.
For me, this means committing fully—to my clients, to my team, and to those who rely on me. The work doesn’t stop until the job is done or until tomorrow demands more. Success isn’t something you wait for; it’s something you build with sincere effort and focus. It all comes down to the choices we make.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There were a lot of reasons that led me to start, “LUMA Creative Media”. In the beginning, in an attempt to find purpose behind my talents and skills, I started to become interested in the concept and importance of our ability as humans to communicate. Functionally, communication allows us to transmit and ingest information, it is the transit of ideas. However, beneath the surface, that same transmission of information is what allows us to smile, cry, be grateful, be regretful… its what moves us, it’s the link between people. Because of this, I realized that no matter whether you are an individual or a small business, there is no shortage of voices to amplify. No idea small enough that it isn’t worth a while. From there, LUMA’s mission was created, we specialize in making high-end video production accessible to a greater variety of business types. How? By staying up-to-date with technological advancements which allow us to do more with less, having a rich and broad network of Atlanta’s best professionals, and simply being unafraid of doing real hard work, for however long it is necessary.
From there, by putting the mission into action, LUMA began working with nonprofits like Braille Institute of America, Saprea, and InCommunity. From sponsoring events to creating short-form documentaries, LUMA has always aimed to create sincere and industry-leading work meant to empower businesses and make a difference in our communities. All this hard work eventually opened doors to collaborate with bigger clients like L’Oréal, GEORG, and others. Eventually, these achievements culminated in what I consider the greatest milestone of my career: establishing LUMA as a provider of multimedia production services within the aerospace manufacturing and space exploration industry.
However, despite the windy road, LUMA, in my eyes, since the begining remains the same. We make big promises with the full intention of fulfilling them. Deeply committed and genuinely grateful to our clients, we strive to maximize the value of every dollar they invest. Quality is at the core of what we do, and we take pride in materializing our client’s ideas into engaging, cinematic, and stimulating content. Our philosophy is very simple: The right idea, powered by creative and engaging communication, can change the world. What is LUMA? What makes us different? High intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution – that’s what we do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has so much to offer, and it truly shines when you step out and explore. If a friend were visiting, I’d start by sharing some of my favorite food spots. For an upscale meal, Houston’s is a must-visit, with its Hawaiian Ribeye steak and classy ambiance. If Italian is on the menu, La Grotta is perfect for a date, while El Super Pan at Ponce City Market serves delicious Latin American dishes in a casual setting. For the best Venezuelan food, Arepa Mia is unbeatable, and pizza lovers shouldn’t miss Varasano’s Pizzeria. Grindhouse Killer Burgers lives up to its name.
Beyond food, Atlanta’s activities highlight its vibrant energy. I’d take my friend to November Project, a free community workout group that meets every Wednesday morning to combine fitness with socializing – it is also organized by my good friend Kyle Walker. We’d also play volleyball with my pick-up group—a fun way to enjoy the city’s skyline—and take a stroll along the BeltLine to soak up the youthful and creative vibes.
For drinks, Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall is a lively spot near the BeltLine, and Painted Park for a great environment with fun young people. Atlanta’s blend of amazing food, engaging activities, and energetic atmosphere makes it a city worth experiencing.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Every single person in my life has played a role or left a mark, whether they’ve been by my side for years or just a moment. That said, one name stands out: Andy Su. A good friend for over a decade and the best cinematographer I know, without whom I wouldn’t be the professional I am today. We attended film school together at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and through all the highs and lows, I can confidently say he’s been one of my greatest teachers—even if he doesn’t realize it himself. I’m grateful for his support, as well as the incredible work we’ve achieved together. Thank you, Andy.
I also couldn’t feel complete without expressing my deepest gratitude to my parents. For everything they’ve taught me, for believing in me, for standing by me through every victory and defeat, and most importantly, for shaping my character and preparing me to face life’s challenges. For showing me—and reminding me—that everything I’ve ever needed has always been within me. And for loving me, even in my failures. Everything I do, I do to make you proud.
