Meet London Dailey | Kid Business Owner and Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with London Dailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi London, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my business came from my mother having a business first. At the age of 6 I wanted to sell items that kids would love so I started out selling slime. My first business name was London Slimetime. I felt that kids needed a business just for them. After I started with slime I also added accessories and other items such as sunglasses, customized sock, earrings, bracelets and more. I knew it would be something kids would love because it was an item I loved. At the age of 6 everything was fun and having my own money was good too.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started at the age of 6 with London Slimetime. This business was mainly for kid and making slime was something I liked to do so why not sell it. My mom and I worked really hard to find the right recipe after multiple failed attempts. Once I figured out how to make the slime that was non toxic and less messy the rest was history. As time passed and I started doing pop up shop I knew that slime could not be the only thing I sold. Because my mom already had an accessory business I wanted to add accessories for kids. Girls are always easier to shop for but I could not exclude boys. So I provided items that both girls and boys would like. Over the year slime turn to accessories and then accessories turned to customized items and I get into tie dye. I would tie dye anything I could get my hands on, but finally settled on socks and shirts. Once I turned 11 years old I decided that I no longer wanted my business name to be London Slimetime, I wanted something more fitting for my age as I was getting out of the slime phase. So after a business naming contest with my customers I settled on XO London. This journey has been challenging but I loved every bit of it.
When thinking as a kid at first it was just about the money. And I still think about money but I also try to see how I can use my business to help others. I have various organizations that I contribute to monetarily and voluntarily within my community. I love to volunteer, but even more when I can represent my brand while doing so. I recently was able to volunteer with Pay It Forward 2k15 ‘s back to school Drive in Lagrange GA and Pinky Cole Foundation Dental Drive with Bella Dental in Tucker GA. Through helping other I came up with the motivational brand called SMART K.Y.D.S. (keeping yourself dedicated in school and life). With this brand I launch my first coloring books for boys and girls and this year I will start my clothing line. Be on the look out for that.
What I want the world to know about me is that I am just London. A 12 year old honor role, softball playing business owner that decided to go for it. With God and my family by my side no one can stop me from my dreams. And guess what? No one can stop you too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friends/cousins were visiting me, we would defiantly go to Urban Air in Snellville GA. I am very adventurous so the sky diving there and race car driving would be the first things we would do. After Urban Air, I would take them to a Braves games at Truist Park because we love sports in my family. And if it is football season we would go see the Atlanta Falcons play. #RISEUP Last we would go to my god mother house and go swimming. I love having family time at the pool. To eat, because I admire Pinky Cole we would go to Slutty Vegan or Sugar Factory because they have cool drinks. For the weekend we would go to Six Flags over Georgia to ride all the roller coasters and then the next day we would go to Six Flags White Waters to ride all the water slides.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my mother because she taught me how to run a business, she is my employee and biggest supporter. I would also like to shoutout my family, friends and customers for helping me build my brand and for their continuous support. I would like to shoutout FABS Network Atlanta for allowing me to be apart of their mini FABs program and my business besties for always providing gems, answering my many questions and being the key knowledge needed to help my business operate.
