We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Borom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Authenticity has been key throughout my career. The dance industry is very competitive and is very ego driven so it is easy to get caught up in thinking that you need to conform or be a certain way to be successful. I have always tried to just be myself, teach what is in my heart, share my stories and knowledge, and lead with passion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
There isn’t a lot of money in the dance business but I knew from a young age it is all I wanted to do. Financially dance couldn’t fully support me for a while so I would work all hours of the day trying to afford this dream of dancing. There were years I spent working a full time job just to be able to dance. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I was actually able to let all the side jobs go and fully support myself in dance and that was a HUGE milestone for me.
I definitely learned that there is a place in the dance world for everyone and that you just have to trust yourself and put yourself 100% in it.
I love teaching and watching the growth in others. I love sharing my stories and connecting to artists who inspire me as well.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love trying new places and am always open to exploring in the city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout all the studios that have worked with me over the years and trusted my artistry. I consider a lot of the studios I work with my family. They have allowed me to come in and create and grow with their students. I also am so appreciative for the Platinum Dance Collective and PNDC. I get to travel the country and share my passion for dance with so many dancers because of the opportunities they have given me.
