We had the good fortune of connecting with Liv Averie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liv, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
You have got to show up for your blessings. There is no easy way through anything. Sometimes it’s not necessarily a hard risk physically, but it can be hard mentally if you aren’t looking at the blessing correctly.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My father taught me to work hard at everything I do no matter what it is. All through my life I did it for jobs I didn’t love and people who didn’t love me. But the lesson grew on me because those things showed me that I could be anything in any atmosphere. When I finally decided to put music into that category I started creating songs that moved me while making them. Some I have never released. I started making music for me and it has been an amazing experience. I think the struggle was finding producers or mixers that see my vision and look at it in a creative standpoint rather than just a job. The industry has changed so much and I’m slowly learning how to protect my creativity and make sure it’s always in good hands. Life is so colorful, I am constantly growing and learning myself as an artist.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooh yes Vegan soul food for sure
Take them to Piedmont or hiking
Then back to my place for a whole vibe and jam session.
Tea .. Lots of Tea..Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a lot of people to have helped support my work. But most of all I want to thank myself for putting it into action. I have never really been to kind to myself when it comes to praise and I think it’s because I have always been afraid or worried that I’m not good enough. A lot of Artists can relate and I think we should normalize shouting out ourselves for all of the hard work, self doubt, questions, confusion, beauty and not so beautiful moments. It shapes us to tell better stories.
