Meet Lindsey Wiseman: Salon Owner & Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Wiseman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, let’s start off by chatting about your relationship with your siblings.
My sister and I grew up with normal feuds. As we grew older we have become good friends. I’m so thankfully I belong in a family that sticks together. Most of the time if you know one of us, you know both of us. We’re together a lot and I think it’s awesome to have a built in friend who I can have long term inside jokes with. Recently, we’ve become hiking buddies as a social distancing activity close to home.
What should our readers know about your business?
I once had a co-worker who would comment on how professional but oddly authentic my behavior always was. At the time I thought, that’s an odd complement. Now looking back on those occasions, I have a different point of view. I think I got to where I am in my career by treating people how I wanted to be treated. I know it sounds generic but really, “positive vibes only.” The golden rule works, every time. Networking, new experiences, new relationships, you name it. If you treat people with kindness, life personally and professionally is more rewarding. Challenges do happen but, if you chose to have a solution mindset instead of a problem mindset, challenges become minor issues. It’s not easy being a business owner because usually the solution is looking into your own leadership, choices and actions. Sometimes it is dumb stuff like, the inventory order isn’t delivered until 9:00pm the next day. Learning to let go in situations like this, is all you can do, it’s out of your control. All of it is normal stuff and as long as you are honest and authentic about addressing any issue, it won’t be a problem.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I could go on and on about this because I love adventure and I’m obsessive compulsive about planning. Even more so because my best friend is near and we do get to go have fun all around Georgia. It’s going into summer so my mind is on summer activities. Since I work full time in the city, I enjoy the road less traveled on my “staycations”. 1. Food Basically any Mexican food will do but, we get a craving for what the locals know as “Prison Taco”. It’s authentic, affordable, and f’n delicious. The real name is EL Progreso and its a little market with a butcher and food service in the back. 2. Live Outdoor Music There are several amphitheaters around the Atlanta area. My best friend and I love to get lawn seats, drink vodka sodas, and talk to strangers. 3. Hiking I absolutely love the Arabia and Panola Mountain area for hiking and packing a picnic. There are well marked trails, history to learn about, and unique things to see. I like packing a picnic because there are several cool spots to post up and enjoy a sandwich and some sun. 4. Beer There are a lot of local beer breweries around Georgia. I decided to not point out any one specific because we have gone to a lot and each one has been cool and unique in its own way. I always like to “take flight” and sample all the brews. 5. Waterfalls, rivers, and lakes We are always looking for some water to splash in. It’s no secret that it is hot here so I keep a google map pinned with all the waterfalls, rivers, lakes. Most are within a couple hours of the city and make a great great day trips to enjoy the weather.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to the Cosmetology Industry. My fellow hairstylists and brand partnerships have developed a sense of community. We know how to have fun and take care of business. We get the opportunity to develop trusting relationships with our local community. Our industry is constantly evolving together. Not only do we share what we know with each other, we all share the same passion to create something beautiful.
