Meet Lil Vyl | CEO & Founder Vylan Radio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lil Vyl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lil, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
This is an interesting question. As a young business owner, I’ve had to also become my own capital investor. This means taking on various jobs to gather streams of income that ultimately funds my music ventures. When music was still tangible, it was easier to sustain yourself as an artist, by selling cds, merch and live shows. But in the modern age of streaming where a song on average earns $0.005 in revenue, it’s important to not rely solely on the intangibles. Labels offer 360 deals that aren’t beneficial for the artist long term so remaining indy and privately funding your own music is crucial. Maintaig this balance takes a lot of effort, but it’s the most rewarding.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Holding the south side of Atlanta down with a vengeance, Lil Vyl pulled up on the scene late 2017 with his debut project “Supa Vylan”. Since then Vyl has worked with producers such as Brandon Thomas, SenseiATL, Bishop Nehru, and Grammy award winning engineers. Previously featured on DJ Smallz Eyes youtube channel, Elevator Magazine, Daily Chiefers, and many more.
It was never easy but it wasn’t hard. When you do something you love everything is a passion project. The obstacles consist of adapting to the new age of social media and streaming, but we are growing daily.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would visit Thumbs Up Diner in East Point for breakfast, Dope Coffee in Decatur, the Food Shoppe in midtown, and hangout at Ourbar on Edgewood or Gremlin Growlers in Fayetteville. We would also hit Skateplug in Hapeville to get a new set up so we can go skateboarding.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Devin Tyson, my uncle, is an avid supporter and encourager. Love that guy
