We had the good fortune of connecting with Lia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
You can’t win without risk. I try a lot of things I don’t want to or maybe I’ll think it’ll fail but sometimes you have to go through with it. A lot of times we take risk with money not knowing if this show or this video/photoshoot is worth it but you never know what results it will bring unless you try.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Man I love my art. I love creating. I can be anywhere and if I have to write a lyric down or record a melody I’ll stop everything just to do that. I’m most proud of my work ethic even through my rough times. It’s a struggle to be consistent when everything else in your life is falling apart. I think I got here today just by never giving up or settling. I see big things in the future for me. I see me being a global superstar not just a great local artist. Overcoming those obstacles wasn’t easy, but my grandma recordings really help me get through the day. Before she passed I used to record our convos and even a couple of her prayers. (Hint track 13 “grandmas prayers) It’s like when I hear her voice I snap back into focus and feel like I can conquer the world just by hearing her prayers. The biggest thing I’ve learned is to be patient when it comes to this music world. I’m so eager to get out there and let the world know who I am. But there’s a way you go about that. There’s a plan to be set and a blueprint to follow. Everything will happen when God is ready for that to happen. I just want the world to know that I struggle day to day just like them. So when I write my music and sing my songs I’m hoping I can heal whatever pain you’ve gone through. We are all alike and all need LOVE.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my team! My managers have went above and beyond to make my dreams come true. They never second guess me if I have an idea they support me 100 percent and try their best to bring it to life. Even besides the music they really give me the motivation and strength to go on. My manager texts me EVERYDAY “good morning superstar! Rise and grind! Just to have someone there everyday believing in YOU is such a blessing because everybody don’t have that in their corner. So I’m very grateful for the life lessons and the love they have shown me.
