We had the good fortune of connecting with LeTerrica Gibbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LeTerrica, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
There are times when I get frustrated and want to give up. The determining factor that propels me forward is whether there is still a vision for the assignment. Even if I can’t see it now, I return to the vision God initially gave me. If I haven’t completed everything there, then I know I need to keep going. It’s a faith walk. I can’t always focus on what I see, but I must press into what I know.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently an elementary professional school counselor. I am also a business owner and a self-published author. I edit and help others publish their books. I love helping people. I always have. It’s been a dream of mine to help others make a difference, achieve their goals, and walk in their God-ordained purpose on earth. It hasn’t been easy to get where I am. There have been times when I wished I had a mentor. However, that hasn’t always been the case. I had to trust and rely on the Holy Spirit most of the time. Looking back, that was the best Help ever! I started as a classroom teacher before I became a counselor. My last year in the classroom was full of one trial after another. Nevertheless, I can honestly say that year was a year that prepared me for where I am now. Sometimes, when things get tough, we want to give up. I am still learning that none of those things will ever be wasted. God will use all of that. It may be training or a time that He refines us, but it will not be wasted. It was training and preparation for me. I am grateful for perspective. It has given me a new grace to overcome challenges and let things go more quickly.
If you have a story that you know needs to be in a book, I am here to help. If you’ve been dreaming of being a writer, now is your time. Let’s connect and get out what has been burning inside of you. Even if you don’t know precisely how to word it, I’m your person. This is your year to do what you’ve been dreaming about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would love for you to come and visit my city! We may have to hit the road to get to a few places, but I promise you’ll enjoy every second. Here are some spots that we would have to check out together:

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family, the children on my job, my friends, and my amazing church family have greatly encouraged me. They all stepped in during different seasons and gave me exactly what I needed when needed. I am grateful to God because He supplied me with what I needed to reach where I am.
