We had the good fortune of connecting with Lennox Tatenda Makurumidze and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lennox Tatenda, is there something you believe many others might not?
“Bangers only” I don’t believe is the idea of always putting your best art out for people to see. The process of art demands failure in order to build ideas. We are ever growing beings and not everything resonates with everyone.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a reflection of my perspective of the world, I have come to learn that we live in an ugly world and humility is looking pretty doomed right now, but I believe in the best of my species and I would like to hope that if we are given a reason to believe in life through art, we can be saved. I know it’s an idealistic take but it’s my take nonetheless.

I’m excited about being able to reimagine and reshape the African native. We live in a time where African stories are being told by African people, we are reclaiming our heritage and identity.

To be honest I don’t know how I got here… I was very ambitious and delusional, I’m a product of just doing it, it was very difficult but like I said art demands failure, you just need to learn from it.

Lastly… I’m obsessed with self development because I believe thats what creates great artist

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be honest, I’m a living testimony of humanity coming together and helping out one another, my tumultuous journey as been about learning and sharing information and opportunities with so many people who believed in me before I ever believed in myself and took a chance on me. Special thanks goes to my girlfriend, my mentors and my friends, above all God
