We had the good fortune of connecting with Lemuel Randolph and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lemuel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe taking risks are necessary for growth. Sometimes I feel as though people mis label risks and validate it by just doing something they wouldn’t normally do. To me risks are calculated decisions that can help you take a big step toward your end goal but at the same time can set you back just as much if done wrong. This risks I have taken have helped me get further than I would have been had I not made that decision. I have reaped then benefits of my choices which also aid in new decisions I have to make. They have allowed me to meet and connect with some great people where I live now. I am able to learn from people who are more established in my career and it’s has helped me grow tremendously.
What should our readers know about your business?
Hercules Fitness is focused on providing clients with a completely customized and personalized training experience from top to bottom with workouts designed with appropriate difficulty based on current and past health conditions, workout history and goals. I am where I am today with the help of peers and planning. Planning helped me efficiently sort through possible solutions to various challenges that have come up while building Hercules Fitness. I plan the times I eat, study, work for the business and even down time so that I don’t waist time. What I have learned from this journey is that your mental health directly affects and reflects on to your business. People need to stay in tuned with their mental health especially while building a business because with so many moving parts it’s easy to get stuck in your head. It’s okay to take a couple hours to gather yourself if you need to because it will help you in the long run.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta offers a lot for people who aren’t from here and from my experience most people aren’t. I would definitely visit the belt line first because of all the different shops and restaurants that you can try. Food is a big thing in ATL and you can’t go wrong with some wings from American Deli. These are the best wings I’ve had in a while. Colony Square in midtown is a really nice area my girlfriend and I like going to and of course they have some really good food. Now if you ‘re all about experience, try out the Illuminarium which is basically a giant bar with projector screens all around the room that project different themes each season. The theme right now is safari so you’ll see detailed and colorful videos of safari wild life. If you’re a social butterfly and want to be around a bunch of people, hit the battery, home of the Braves. They have many different restaurants and bars you can try but my favorite is PBR because of the mechanical bull they have. There are so many more places I have yet to visit but these have been my favorite so far.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There 2 people that have helped me in my life ever since I have started on this journey as an entrepreneur. I worked for a great woman named Susan Ottey in college. She’s the owner of Better Bodies 757 a local gym in Hampton,VA. Susan helped me realize my potential and broke down how much work I had to put in to get where I want to be. My girlfriend Deanna has also kept me on the right track by holding me accountable. She has been hands on in my development and challenges me to be better each day. I can’t thank these women enough for my success.
