We had the good fortune of connecting with Lela Hinds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I love working in this industry but it broke my heart how expensive corporations were making it, especially weddings. I wanted to offer an affordable, beautiful venue that also provided excellent customer service. So I took the leap of faith and left my corporate job and bought a property in Peachtree City GA to turn into Lela’s Place Venue and Event Planning.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lela’s Place Venue is located in beautiful Peachtree City GA in Fayette County near the Fayetteville border. The grounds are inspired by French country and offer indoor and outdoor event space. Whether you are getting married under the 116 year old oak tree or dancing under the café lights on the Pavilion you are surrounded by casual elegance.
There are many things that set us apart from other venues: affordability, flexibility, large bridal/ groom suites, excellent customer service, full service packages, outdoor and indoor event space and beautiful garden with flowers and 3 100+year old trees. The venue is magical at night with all of the lights!
I opened the venue during Covid and it was challenging to say the least but we didn’t just survive we are thriving and host 80+ events a year. Most importantly we have wonderful clients who refer their friends and family to us and that is the biggest compliment ever!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend came to town for my wedding and I was able to show her the venue and she said that the photos don’t do it justice. While attending the wedding she was able to eat a fabulous dinner by one of our in house catering companies and dance the night away with our fabulous DJ. Fayette County has lots of things to do and wonderful restaurants.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my parents for making me 😆 my grandmother for telling me I could be whatever I dream of being and my grandfather who was a small business owner. Thank you to my family. You are my nspiration and my biggest cheerleaders. I am so grateful for all of my friends and clients!
