We had the good fortune of connecting with Leesa Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leesa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My father owned his own business and instilled in my brothers and I the importance of having work ethics and to work hard for what you want. I started my first business when I was 27, a plus size clothing store. I also worked other jobs to support my business in slow periods. I knew at a young age that I too wanted to be a business owner. I took many subjects in college because of my eagerness to learn new things, one of which was an associate degree in Business. I started the talent agency in 1998 and went back to school to study media technologies and received a bachelor’s degree in film and animation and later incorporated the entertainment group into the business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Leesa Robinson Agency expanded to 45 locations in the USA, In 2012, we developed a proven marketing package plan exclusively to the Leesa Robinson Agency, we developed a classroom curriculum to ensure success in our talent and at a cost provided the tools to be a successful model or actor. Hard work paid off and in 2015 We expanded to include a production company.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I travel several states a year and I live between Mississippi and New Mexico, Mississippi highest attractions are the Casinos with fine restaurant dining. I love entertaining clients with fine dining. New Mexico offers beautiful scenery and some of the best Mexican food, Sadie’s in Albuquerque is the best!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I worked really hard to develop a successful business, I found it hard to trust anyone as my contacts were stolen twice from employees. I also had an employee as a regional manager who embezzled over six thousand dollars from the company before we noticed discrepancies. I fell back on family to help me through the betrayal of trust in employees. Again my father and mother gave advice and also helped in the business. I then decided that as difficult as it was that I could not trust anyone with personal or confidential business information and I changed the way the company did business, offering company incentive and profit sharing, Being more private has allowed me to delegate smaller task and myself to deal with sensitive information.
