Meet Lee Heisman | Chief Executive Officer at Exit Stage Left Advisors

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Heisman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lee, what role has risk played in your life or career?
In both my personal and professional endeavors, I base nearly all my decisions on one key factor: avoiding regret. Failure, surprisingly, doesn’t cause me much pain; in fact, I often welcome it. Failure gives me a sense of vitality. Success, on the other hand, doesn’t bring overwhelming joy, as many people would assume. For me, it’s more like satisfying an itch. But regret, that stings like nothing else.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I began my career as a licensed physical therapist in Philadelphia before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. Where I then established a commercial printing company named H & W Printing. Successfully growing this venture, I eventually sold it to my technology firm, Savant, which I expanded to 100 employees before selling it four years ago. In the last four years, I’ve shifted my focus to mergers and acquisitions. I began assisting entrepreneurs nationwide in realizing their dreams by facilitating the sale of their businesses to private equity firms and family offices.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I regularly welcome guests and CEOs to visit the Atlanta area to spend a few days with me. I like to make the most of their visit by planning a full day of activities. First, we head to my mountain home where we do repeated sessions of wet/dry sauna followed by ice bathing. This is usually followed by a workout in our gym or hiking in the mountains. After lunch in downtown Woodstock, we head to my private tactical firearms range for about two hours of training, covering movement, sight alignment, and weapon control. We usually end the day with dinner at a restaurant in downtown Atlanta, with Lyla Lila being one of my favorites.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s absolutely no doubt that the primary source of my drive and inspiration lies within my three daughters and wife. Their unwavering support and the stability they provide at home serves as the solid foundation for all my efforts. Their encouragement propels me to reach new heights both in the business world and within the circle of those I mentor.
Throughout the past 25 years, I’ve deliberately surrounded myself with individuals in the business community whose achievements far surpass my own. Not only do these connections inspire me, but they also offer invaluable lessons and insights. Furthermore, their genuine happiness for my successes underscores the authenticity of our relationships. We can freely share ideas, collaborate, and celebrate each other’s successes, devoid of jealousy.
