We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauryn Burgess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauryn, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My balance between work and life is still a working progress! While maintaining my business, I also work two full time jobs, which definitely keeps me busy! Though I get a little burnt out at times, I wouldn’t want it any other way at this point in time. I am enjoying the sensation of being a “go- getter”, which is the fuel to my motivation. Since I became a business owner, I have developed a new type of drive, a new type of dedication for reaching my goals and I plan to keep checking them all off of the list. With that being said, I should probably learn how to balance a little bit better, but I am trusting the process!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My professional organizing business is not only meant to organize your home, but also your lifestyle! I pride my work on knowing how happy my clients will be after receiving the ultimate revival, whether it’s their closets, garages, or meals! While I am tremendously proud of how well the home organizing aspect of REVIVE is doing, I am very excited to introduce a new addition to REVIVE’s services: Meal Prepping. Most people think of being unorganized as having clutter and mess; however, organization is needed in all aspects of our lives. Our new meal prepping services will offer different packages that provide a variety of meals prepared for each week. These meals are homemade each week and prepped in portion control containers for convenience! I love being able to try out new things and take risks when it comes to my business, because it’s all about figuring out what your clientele really need! Risk taking is a very valuable lesson I’ve learned throughout this process. Sometimes we are afraid of failing or what people will think, yet, that one scary idea may be the best thing to ever happen to your business. Learning to take risks taught me to stop being so hard on myself and actually consider the pros of taking that chance. Another challenge that I have been working through is being consistent, even when business is slow. Patience is such a virtue, a virtue I wish came easily to me. As I continue to remind myself of how important timing is, I continue to see results of waiting and having faith. I want the world to know that my brand stands for more than just organizing messes; my brand represents the beauty of change and self improvement through guidance and patience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
While there are so many things that I love about being a business owner, my favorite part is my support system. I have so many friends and family that have been with me since before I knew what I wanted to do in life, and are still telling me great job today! Though the one person who has always inspired me, pushed me, lectured me; the one person who will ALWAYS have a huge role in my success story is my mother, JacQuatta Green. My mom has been more than a mother to me, she’s my manager, my life coach, and my pep talk go-to when I need it. There have been so many times that I would have quit or given up on so many things; yet, her words of encouragement always seem to be the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s hard for me to put into words the love I have for her, but no matter what, her name will always be said when speaking about my success. My mother is the strongest woman I know, because even through the hardest storms, she finds the bright side. Sometimes being reminded of the bright side is all you need. Thank you mom, I owe everything to you!
