We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShaun Adesimilolu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaShaun, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Freedom!

I was at a pivotal moment in my life where my back was against the wall. It was either keep making the same choices day after day and live a life I didn’t like,

OR

Take a risk and *POSSIBLY* experience greatness.

It was a no brainer. Anything was better than the mediocre life I was living.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a Tax Accountant and Business Coach. After spending years working towards a bachelors degree in Anthropology, I was stuck on exactly how I would use it in the “real world”.

Luckily for me, God had other plans. A life changing moment occurred where I experienced a significant loss in my family. This loss made me question my entire existence. I realized that I desired the freedom to work how, when and where I wanted.

I prayed to God to send me an opportunity to change the course of my life. Not long after, I was presented the opportunity to get started as a Tax Professional. I didn’t realize that you didn’t need a degree to get started and when I found out, I jumped on it.

Fast forward 2 years later I was making more in 4 months then I had made all year at my corporate banking job. And I was able to travel around the world to places like Belize, Africa and London.

My boyfriend at the time was also an accountant. We decided to open our own business the following year. We learned so much the first couple years of branching out on our own. We decided to become Coaches to help other aspiring tax professionals.

I wrote my first book, ” From Tax Preparer to Business Owner, The Step by Step Guide to Starting a Tax Business”, which turned out to be a huge success. This book helped many people to get started, and contact us for assistance.

From there, we created online courses, programs and wrote additional books to help newbies in the industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our first stop would be Spa and. It’s the perfect place to unwind and relax.

We’d have massages, hang out in the saunas, and spend time catching up over delicious asian style ramen noodles.

We would definitely have to check out some of my favorite food spots: Pappadeux, Slutty Vegan and Sweet Potatoe Cafe.

We would ride around the luxurious properties in Buckhead. Visualize our future living in our dream houses and travel to exotic lands. Then stop for tapas and margaritas.

One day we would devote to our children. Make it a YES day. First head to Yellow River Park and do some bike riding. Then take the little ones to Catch Air Kids to run off their remaining energy. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Moses for being my business partner and greatest support system.

My family for encouraging and believing in me.

Toastmasters, the organization that helped me improve my speaking and leadership skills.

My very first Tax Mentors, a husband and wife team who guided and shaped the direction in which I would blossom .
