We had the good fortune of connecting with LaMia Michele Pierce and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaMia Michele, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
As I read through the list of the questions, this particular question began to make my heart pound and I knew it was the one that I should answer. The most difficult decision that I have ever had to make was first believing in myself. Second it was convincing myself that I too deserved to win in life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since 2019, I’ve grappled with the question of whether my gift of writing qualifies as an art form. Eventually, I embraced the idea that I, too, deserve recognition, I deserve to win! My strength lies in vulnerability, being able to share my unfiltered truths, the essence of my soul, through words. What sets me apart is my unwavering authenticity; I don’t fabricate or edit my stories. Looking ahead, I’m excited about the future and how my bravery will benefit my grandchildren and their children. I take pride in transforming pain into power, using it to help others heal and forgive themselves. My journey hasn’t been easy, but spending time with God, self-honesty, and writing my unvarnished truths have been my compass. Lessons abound, but the most valuable one is that our gifts needn’t conform to societal norms in order to be labeled art. I believe that anything that an individual can dream about and then turn into a tangible manifestation is art, as well as alchemy. Art transcends mere visuals; words, too, can paint vivid pictures. As an Author, a writer, a ghostwriter, a storyteller and a visionary that creates notebooks, journals and all things stationery, it is all art that is created from the depths of my heart, my trauma, my pain and now my healing. I want the world to know that I’m an incredible, amazing survivor, and my brand, One Planted Seed, will sow healing through my words.”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My itinerary would be a little different from most, I am sure..lol. I would most definitely take her for a visit to the Dekalb Farmers Market so we could indulge in some fresh, seeded fruits and vegetables. A few of my favorite eateries and lounges would include Rich & Pour, The Breakfast Boys and Palm78 Restaurant. I would also add to the itinerary an overnight stay in one of the Kindle Ridge luxury cabins out in nature in Dahlonega, Ga where we could catch up om some rest and just girl time. Last but not least, Jazz Night at the Betty would also make the itinerary! There is so much to do in Atlanta and so many happening spots you cannot go wrong whether you are people watching at Atlantic Station or shopping at Ikea.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
While I am an avid reader, there are a few books that deserve credit for my growth and success. However, my biggest shoutout goes to my two grandchildren, Mia Amor and Israel. Their arrival marked a turning point in my life. As my daughter had her children, I realized the importance of reshaping our family’s narrative. I wanted their innocent eyes to witness success within their bloodline. When I wrote and self-published my very first book, their excitement and joy fueled my determination to push forward against all odds.
