We had the good fortune of connecting with La Tesce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi La, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been deeply moved by music. The moment I decided to start writing music was the day I realized our radio stations were missing something. It’s missing the variety of sounds we had in the early 2000’s. The current sound of hip-hop is dope and definitely influenced the sound of my most recent singles, but I have so much more to offer to help switch up the soundwaves and I’m looking forward to doing that. Music is limitless as well as the creator of it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe my personality sets me apart from others, the music is a cherry on top. I view myself as an audience member/listener, before and after each performance. I used to be announcer for local basketball leagues, and host for different events, so I’ve been in the position to interact with any and everyone regardless of the event. Now I’m able to bring good energy while performing my very own songs. It wasn’t easy getting to this point today, I’ve had to conquer many many hurdles when it came to the production of my songs, trying to get marketing, trying to get on my local station. Some of these hurdles and other still exist, but it’s never deterred me from continuing to create music. I’ve definitely scaled back when having to balance work and life, yet, I’m still here. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to focus on the positive and focus on the task at hand. A lot of times people focus only on their rejections and critiques – which is never easy to swallow in the moment, but as long as you view it as another tool needed to build your house, then take it for what it is and focus back on the task at hand and do it even better now. My music is just an extension of the fun I have on a regular basis and I’m always looking forward to sharing that energy with others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start by bringing them to Mohegan Sun, one of our biggest casinos. Then day 2 probably watch a movie at Buckland Hills theater in Manchester, CT. Day 3 relax outside at a live band/jazz concert with vendors. Day 4 visit family and get food at Parkville Market – which hosts events throughout the week with live music and has 10+ local food options. Day 5 watch a show at Infinity Musical hall.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to pay all respect to my family. They have always been my biggest support system, regardless of what crazy ideas I come up with. They’ve never questioned ‘why’ but instead asked ‘what do you need us to do?’ I never feel judged if I decided to take the most unexpected route in life. Their support deters me from being complacent in life.
