We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Matthews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business hasn’t been easy but the thought process behind it was. I’ve always been a do-it- yourself kind of girl. As a Licensed Esthetician, I’ve always had a vision of walking into my own Spa or place of business and seeing my own products on the retail self. Over the years I’ve tried working “jobs” but it just wasn’t for me. I’ve always wanted to start my own business and share my gifts with the world through service. it was something I feel like I had to do.
What should our readers know about your business?
When creating Krysentials – Krystal’s Essentials, I had every intention on keeping my customers and clients in mind. I wanted to create organic products that work and offer services through my crafts, all while helping others feel good about themselves.
As an Entrepreneur and business owner, I’m am most proud of my progress. I officially decided that this is what I am going to do in November 2019 and there have been a few hurdles and bumps in the road along the way. The biggest lessons were patience and timing. I have been frustrated and have had thoughts of giving up but I pushed through. I’ve accomplished a lot for Krysentials in the last year and don’t have any plans on stopping any time soon.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy nature, fine dinning and learning new things. Depending on what you like, Atlanta has some of the best parks and hidden gems. There are parks all around the city, the Belt Line and the Chattahoochee River. In Atlanta we love wings! So there are all kinds of wing spots all over the city, personally my favorite is Best Wings on Ponce. As far as fine dinning, I like restaurants like TWO Urban Licks or the Lounge at the Sun Dial Restaurant, where they have a great ambiance, food, drinks and music. Little Five Points, Atlantic Station and Lennox Mall area are also great for hanging out, good eats and shopping as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would just like to thank anybody that has ever supported me and continue to show support. This journey wasn’t easy and I would be lying if I said I did it all on my own. From immediate family to extended family, friends, colleagues and even strangers, the support has been real! Although I can’t say I have a mentor, I’m truly inspired and motivated by the hardworking men and women around me everyday.
