We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Hills and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk, risk, risk. Taking risks created the beast that I am today! I strive to not be anything like the next person. I want to create the difference. I love it when my clients allow me to take chances and go outside the box. I have to admit it comes with its downfalls, but its how you learn what works for you. Luckily, I have the best support team to let me know whats good and whats is not. No matter the outcome, either way, we grow through the process and become more resilient and confident.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My mind sets me apart from others. I can draw an idea and bring it to life. I’ve started a group on Facebook, For the Love of Props. I have been teaching others how to use tools and saws. I swear everyone makes me feel like a celebrity. People all over has told me how I have changed their lives and how I’ve uplifted their spirits. I just love it, it fills me with joy to find out how Ive helped by just doing what I do!!! Having my daughter influenced me. She is my number 1 cheerleader through it all. She encourages me to keep going, so it does come easier when you have support, even when things are not going well. My daughter Rylan started me on my prop journey. I started crocheting swimsuits, taking on sooo many customer service jobs, event planning, baking cakes, I did it all. I found my niche with my daughters parties and just seeing everyones reaction kept me going. Most people think this is impossible. They think women can’t cut with saws. But please believe we can do anything. I want the world to know its not impossible to start your goals. You have to make time for what you want and believe in it yourself.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Chef Robs, I am not a night life type of girl. Im a home body. But each time I do something or just want to get out of the house for good cooking and music, we go to Chef Robs. Its a Caribbean Lounge. The Dj plays music from all over and the drinks will have you dancing in no time!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First I have to give honor and glory to God. Without God, these talents, my supporters, where I am today wouldn’t be possible. Next goes to my husband, this field, being an entrepreneur is not a 9 to 5 task. Its a life change. He’s my strength and the customer service of my business. I need to hear all sides of a situation and make the best decision possible to move forward. I have to give a special thank you to Jean from Dazzle Me Parties, I have never had anyone push me to my fullllll potential like she does. How do you have someone believe in you more than you. I love her energy and ideas it keeps me going to the next level. Creativisuals and I have developed a unstoppable team. I feel like we are running Atlanta Events back to back and I love it. Thank you. My older sister Chelethia and my cousin Sylvia are my critics. I get advise on what needs to be scrapped and what is ready to make it to the showroom, I love to hear what works and doesnt because I create things most people wouldn’t dream of making they automatically think its beautiful or amazing. I love positive and negative feedback, they let me know it all.
