We are so inspired by the businesses in our community because of how many of them are committed to helping to make the world better than it is today.  Check out some great businesses below and how they are helping others.

Amelia Quinn | Activist

For all the beauty in the world, we still have so far to go. Somehow our world has decided that some people are less valuable and can be treated as such. We have created systems to reinforce this belief. I watch this everyday in the world of commercial sexual exploitation. Racism, the pornography industry, wage disparity, the justice system and more all play a role in trapping individuals in exploitation and convincing so many that is the only place they belong. At BeLoved, I am able to watch individuals pave a new path with the proper resources and support. It is easy for us to focus on the impact of the individual receiving support but what I really love to watch is the impact that individuals then has on the community. The women BeLoved works with are some of the strongest most resilient women I know. When given the opportunity they are the ones who will change the community and the world. Read more>>

Nichole Dandrea-Russert | Registered Dietitian Nutritionist & Certified Yoga Instructor

Through purely planted I share plant-based nutrition tips, recipes, kitchen tricks, and ideas to hopefully inspire the community to try more plant-based meals. I share through social media (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter), my blog, and through local and national television segments. I hope that people will add more plants to their diet, swap out one meal a week, try Meatless Monday, or maybe even go fully plant-based from what they learn through purely planted. My philosophy is that every little bit counts so even if they take small steps towards eating more plants it’ll make a big difference in their health. And, if every single person took small steps toward eating more plants it would make a huge impact on the environment and animal welfare. Read more>>

Jessica Merriman | Convention Chairman

The basic mission of MomoCon as an event is to make people happy, at it’s core; to provide entertainment to those who might not be able to let loose and enjoy themselves in day to day life. The first time I went to a fan convention, it was like stepping into a world I didn’t know existed, and my life would never be the same. The pure acceptance, unbridled joy, feel of the crowd was palpable. To be able to bring that kind of experience to multiple generations of attendees over the course of 15 years has been one of the greatest achievements in business. Other charity initiatives with Child’s Play, St. Jude, and Children’s Healthcare are meaningful and important, but even the core of our business is creating joy. Read more>>

Ase Omavuaye Otite | Author

My storybook Happystarville teaches great morals to young children, allowing them to see how the consequences of their actions don’t just affect them, but also everyone around them. In conjunction with that, Happystarville also touches 2 key areas which are Social-emotional learning and emotional intelligence; I believe they are sorely needed in the lives of children. In my opinion, when we equip children early with core skills, like empathy and self-awareness, they grow up to be adults who make positive impacts in their families and communities. Read more>>
