We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Groves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic or creative career because I like to do and think outside the box, I like to be different . I don’t like to do what everyone is doing or get on the trends, I design different and love doing my own thing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a Baker/Cake Decorator for 10 yrs now, before I got started I never baked a day in my life, I was going through a bad marriage and focused on something positive that interested me. I went to the library every day and researched information on how to do fondant cakes. I found an interest in doing fondant cakes and baking overall, so one day I decided to try doing a cake for the first time and to my surprise it turned out great. So after that I kept researching and reading on different techniques and 10 yrs later I have a great business with a lot of cliental, I not only do cakes now, I do treats for parties, weddings, & money bouquets, I do a lot of different events, cakes, and treats.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I would introduce them to First & Broad Pizza Company in Cairo Ga, its a great little Gem with a lot of varieties to choose from, they also have a bar, live bands, and also pool tables with great service and hospitality. If pizza is not on the menu then Mexican food is a must have in Small town Cairo Ga. Taco N’ Madre is a must visit to get your Mexican Food. The owner is great, food and servers are wonderful. I can introduce you to a Gem that I call my Neighbor, Arthur Bush (James) he is the owner of a small business called Daddies Babies BBQ, when I say he has the best BBQ ribs around, I mean just that. Also if you want something different I would take a ride to Tifton Ga to E41 where to owner is my brother Kenneth Groves, they serve up great Burgers and a variety of Coffee drinks as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to Shoutout My God for keeping me sane and in my right mind, for giving me another chance to be great every day. My daughter’s Courtney Groves & Karisma Brown for keeping me encouraged and motivating me to keep going and never giving up. My Granddaughter Kalani Bell who loves Cake!
