We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from a very small town in upstate NY. I grew up with a mentally ill father during the 90s and early 2000s and it had a huge impact on me and my own mental health. As a young teen and adult I used drugs as a coping mechanism and it took a long time to dig myself out of that mess. The difficult experiences I had as a child and young adult absolutely impacted the entrepreneur that I am today. I have always had something to prove to myself and I knew that I had more in me than I had done up to that point. Unfortunately, my father committed suicide 10 years ago. Experiencing that loss has only fueled me more to be the light in the world that people need. I love being a REALTOR because I get to help people in so many ways.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I jumped into real estate in 2018 feet first. I knew I needed to stand apart, I knew I wanted to do it with other people, and I knew I had the passion. There was so much that I had to learn but I just immersed myself in learning as much as possible and in 2020 I was finally earning a good living from my real estate business and from there my systems and processes started to work – quadrupling my business in just one years time. I began to build a team and in 2023 we were named #10 top real estate team for the Fayette Board of Realtors. I even wrote a short book about real estate in Fayette County and self-published it on Amazon. It was not at all easy getting to where I am today, and I know it won’t be easy to get where I want to go, but it is so worth it. I think I live a very full but fulfilling life, making time to prioritize my kids, my husband and my business. The biggest challenges to getting where you want to go is not wasting your time on tasks that don’t produce results. Live by your calendar, do what you say you are going to do, and most importantly, LIVE outside your comfort zone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When someone comes to visit me here in Fayetteville I already know all the places that I want to take them. There are so many facets to the area but the three major things would be restaurants, nature areas and shopping. Some of the restaurants I would take them to would be Franks at the Old Mill, Thai Jasmine, The Curious Pig, Monomoki, Barleygarden, La Mexicana and City Cafe. I would want to explore Line Creek Nature Area, Lake Horton and The Ridge Nature area. We would have to check out Peachtree City by golf cart too! It is the largest golf cart community in North America with over 200 miles of cart paths. We could check out shopping at The Avenue before heading to Fayetteville to look for some funky clothes at Tribal Chick. And antiquing too!! We have a ton of great places but Diggers is the place to go to find unique items for everyone’s taste!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Someone who needs some recognition in my story would be my husband, Chris. Over the last 15 years, we have raised 3 beautiful children and the growth that I have experienced as a wife, mother, entrepreneur, would not be possible without him and his undying support for me and the life we are creating for one another. He has showed me what true unconditional love is, something that was missing most of my life.
