We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenon Prevo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenon, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel like if you’re not willing to take risks then you’re not willing to go for what it is you really want to do with your life. Like if ALL about taking risks and we will never know what we’re capable of if we don’t test the waters every now and then. Take that leap of faith! Get out there! Do you! Take risks whenever you get the chance. Just don’t do nothing crazy!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As of today I have been doing my thing for about 5 years now. It definitely wasn’t easy getting to where I am now in my business. Although I’m not where I want to be just yet but I am surely closer and not in the same place I was 5 years ago. In between that time I had a lot to learn, went through a lot of different people that said they would work with and help me, was turned down from several opportunities and jobs. But I never let any of those things stop me. I continued to do my own research and learning. I stayed in school until I finished. I got to a point where I decided I didn’t need anyone to be along side of me for that moment to tell me how to do this and that or that things should be done in a certain way because the way I’m choosing to do them isn’t going to work. NO! I didn’t need that. It was slowing down MY process. So I started doing things my own way. Ways that I know for sure worked for ME. I stopped listening to people telling me what wouldn’t work and just DID IT! Of course not everything was peaches and cream but when that happens what do you do? Try again! But this time, now you know what not to do. So try again!! I realized that working with people at such an early stage in my career and them being people who knew nothing of what I was really about was my biggest problem. I was still in the process of learning myself and what my calling was so having someone else trying to guide me in that direction just wasn’t working and me being me, I don’t really like to listen. Especially when you’re telling me I can’t do something! So if you don’t take anything else away from Kenon Prevo I want you to take this… don’t let anybody tell you what you’re capable of. Figure that out and learn it yourself! You know you! They don’t! Teach them YOU! Don’t let them teach you you!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh we can definitely do some things here. Of course there’s plenty of places like restaurants, lounges, and bars to go to. So we’d start at one of my newest favorites for a relaxing night out , EastWest. They are soo bomb! Then I’ll probably head on out to get a few drinks on the south side of Birmingham. The vibes are very nice down there on a good night. One of these days out of the week we’d definitely have to visit some food trucks at the Centerpoint Food Truck Park and it will only be right for us to stop by my girl Simon’s Kitchen ATL food truck because baby them doggone bayou fries…….. top tier. All ima say. After that we can take us a lil nap and get ready to do it all over again basically lol it’s not much but it can definitely be whatever you make it here. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There has definitely been an over abundance of support from people all over and I am greatly appreciative of it for sure. From my mom, dad, sister, cousins, other family members and the handful of friends that dedicate their time to be there for me when I need them the most. Shout out to y’all! YOU all are really the real MVP of all of this! Can we get them an interview next?? LOL I love them though. The team if supporters and partners I have now is definitely one of the best yet.
