We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Conyers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendra, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is staying true to myself. In a world where you can be anything and anyone, it is vitally important to stay true to you. Stay true to what you believe, your purpose, your calling, the highest and best version of yourself and make sure that it is nonnegotiable. Don’t conform to what seems to be popular; stay solid. Trust me, it will take you places.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Luxury Lifestyle Real Estate Broker. I absolutely love selling real estate, it has always been a passion of mine. Although, I have a masters degree in marriage and family counseling which has nothing to do with my business, I find myself doing a lot of counseling throughout the home-buying or home-selling process with my clients and their personal journeys. I believe what truly sets me apart from others is my heart and personality. I’m the type of person that wishes I can paint the world in rainbows, remove hurt and sorrow from the world and make people laugh when they’re feeling down. I am most happy when I can give someone hope for tomorrow or inspire them in some form or capacity. I am most excited about helping others obtain their dream of homeownership. It is an indescribable feeling for most people who never thought it was possible. Hard work and dedication is how I arrived at where I am today. I wish it was an overnight journey but it was not. I overcame challenges by remembering that “this too shall pass”. Most times people give up right before their breakthrough but if we can keep in mind that our current defeat is only a chapter; not our full story. I’ve learned many lessons along the way but the greatest lesson would have to be understanding timing. What is not working in a current season may very well work wonderful in another season because timing is everything. Our generation tends to birth things too soon and then they run into complications. Don’t write a book on marriage if you’ve only been married for 3 years. Don’t host a women’s conference about healing when you still suffer from bitterness. Don’t mentor what you have yet to master!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ll be 100% honest, I have my best times right in my living room! But if my best friend was visiting the area, I would definitely take her out to Sweet Butter which is one of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots. Also, people love to go to Rodeo drive or Beverly Hills when they visit LA. Overall, as long as we are laughing then it wouldn’t matter to me where we are. We could sit on the curb eating strawberry popsicles for all I care.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people and books who have directly and indirectly encouraged me along the way. But I would have to shout-out my older sister, Jocelyn Ortega and my high school guidance counselor, Mrs. Donna Cooper-Craig.
