We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Georgiana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
I’m pretty simple when it comes to happiness. An evening at home, with my husband and dogs, those are the things that bring me the most joy and happiness. I love to get dinner started and hang out on the couch, sometimes researching makeup and looks for inspiration. I love to sit and discuss new ideas back and forth with my husband about my business and new ways to grow.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Makeup truly is my passion. I love being able to have an idea in your head and make it come to life on someone. For a while I had a hard time determining where my niche was. Did I want to do television or bridal, special fx or studio work? There are so many fields you can take makeup into, while you can absolutely work in all of these fields as an artist, I wanted to hone in on one, find what I really loved working and focus on that. Bridal is my favorite, I love being such a part of someone’s special day, I have gotten to work with so many brides and meet their families and sometimes it’s like you become a part of their family and that’s a special thing. It’s still a difficult journey sometimes, but the only direction to go from here is up. So, with that I am constantly striving to see how I can grow and become better with my business. I work really hard to be sure that each and everyone of my clients looks and feels exactly how they imagined. I want to be sure that everyone that leaves my chair is 100% happy and comfortable with how their look turned out.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so much to do in Atlanta! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants is Uncle Julio’s, Mexican is my favorite so I am sure we would go on a quest to find more delicious Mexican food. Another great place is the Ponce City Market, for people visiting it’s a cool place to go hang out, shop and eat. It’s got everything you need for a fun filled day. I think axe throwing would also be at the top of my list for my friends and I. I personally have never been, so even more fun to try it together! A little more in the suburbs Marietta also has a smaller scale market, similar to the Ponce City Market, it has some shops and places to eat. Definitely a place to try if you’re not looking for the whole Atlanta scene. Plus it is right next to the Marietta Square so that even more increases the amount of things to do to show people a good time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One person that has been a big part in helping me grow my career is Johnny Le. He has helped me so much in growing my portfolio over the years, and his photography is always clean and consistent. I have never had a shoot where I was not happy with his work. He is always wanting to help each person on the team grow in their own way and grow their businesses. He’s always a pleasure to work with, making sure everyone, from the model to the hairdresser, are able to get shots they are happy with for their own portfolios.
