We had the good fortune of connecting with Katharina Raven and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katharina Raven, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is, being true to myself and my vision. Very often, I struggle with comparing myself to other industry creatives – but then I remember this phrase about there being hundreds of different laundry detergent – and yet everyone reaches for their personal favorite. That phrase always reminds me that; when building a brand, what you stand for, and how you uniquely present yourself, style, and values will eventually make you into that favorite brand your customers choose to take off the shelf.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Technically, I see my art as being very innovative, bold, and clean. Emotionally, I feel my art is inclusive and in some way either entertaining or thought-provoking. Professionally, I am where I am today because I love learning and risk-taking. I’ve moved and rebuild various parts of myself in many places, and even though people. I overcome challenges by being receptive to learning lessons from challenges that come my way. The most important tools I’ve acquired to help me with these challenges is self-awareness, self-care, and grace.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place to bring traveling friends is to any Las Tortas Locas. BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN GEORGIA.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shout out to my former college professor, mentor, and friend Courtney Hermann. Hermann is a phenomenal Filmmaker and Educator and has been my biggest influence since I first started film school in 2011. I dedicate my ability to be able to absorb the precisely laid out techniques used by former filmmakers while also taking risks to make things into my own from her impeccable teaching skills and compassion for students.
