We had the good fortune of connecting with Julian Zurita and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julian, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always wanted to give something back to the arts and community, art and creatives have shaped my life and many others. I don’t see anything more noble than telling your truth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Finding the time to truly dive in creating art has always been a opportunity few find especially in todays get rich quick society. I know my art is an extension of mine and others need for that freedom. What sets me apart is I am doing it for more than myself, staying true and being proud of being ourselves, transparent and staying excited for lifes ups and downs. I got here by investing in my self (saving paychecks) and staying eager to learn.
The hardest thing for me in my humble opinion is self doubt. It is still a challenge but have learned how to overcome this by remebering how far we have come from where we started.
Lessons learned: Always make time for life, take advice but you are the ceo, losses come with lessons, money isn’t everything, don’t go against your values, be proud of your decisions. commit to one task a day.

A son to immigrant parents, learned the meaning of hard work at the age of 7 having to pick berries to help his family make ends meet, to managing multi million dollar retail stores at 16. Starting a Junk Removal Business at 21. All while working towards my goal, of being able to self sustain of my art. So we can teach others that through hardships, we continue to strive because we know we are destined for more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Knowing my best friend, we are going to Magic City

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
