We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In the Spring of 2021, I decided to launch my marketing company which focuses on social media management. One of the driving factors for Social Bound was being able help small businesses escalate their social media accounts. Managing social media is a full-time job and small business owners have so many other tasks that requires their attention to keep their day-to-day operations functioning. That is where Social Bound Marketing Group comes in and create a social media strategy for their business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I created Social Bound to be a boutique marketing agency so that we can work closely with our clients and their specific needs. For me, it’s not about how many clients we have but the quality of our work we give and the relationships we build.

I graduated from Pace University with a double bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism & Communications. I have been involved (in some form or another) with the entertainment industry for nearly 20 years. Because of my acting background, I fell in love with entertainment news and interviewing. Something that sets us apart from other companies is my experience in multiple industries (entertainment, real estate, property management, human resources, retail, to name a few). After living in New York City and Nashville, I found myself back in the southeast. I was lucky enough to sign with one of the leading talent agencies where I worked as an actor and then eventually with the agency on the business side. By being a part of the agency and a local acting studio, it led to networking opportunities, multiple commercials, live segments, music videos, fashion shows (both as a model and host) and radio shows.

When the pandemic hit I decided to go back to school and pursue my master’s degree in Digital Marketing. About 6 months into my master’s degree, I was involved in a car accident where I suffered from a concussion which turned into post-concussion syndrome. I attended physical and speech therapy for nearly 6 months. As someone who is used to being on the go, public speaking and interviewing you can imagine how challenging this was. My entire life changed, and unlike before, the thought of public speaking or interviewing seemed nearly impossible because I was unable to articulate my thoughts like I could in the past.
Due to this challenge, it was another driving force for the creation of Social Bound Marketing Group because it allowed me to be behind the scenes but still incorporate my love for networking and being creative.

Through challenges and hardships unexpected (and great) things can happen if you allow it! I am proud to say that I have clients in multiple cities, will be completing my master’s degree in a few months and could not be happier with the direction of the company.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You can never go wrong with catching a Braves game while in town! Some other attractions we’d have to include in the weekend is The World of Coke, Krog Street Market, The Battery and Ladybird Grove.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people in my life who have been an inspiration in my career, during the highs and the lows, I am so thankful for the encouragement, advice, and feedback. I would like to recognize my husband who supports me and my entrepreneurship personality, I love you! To my family, friends, co-workers, and bosses your mentorship and encouragement along the way has made me who I am today, and I am forever grateful.
