We had the good fortune of connecting with Juanita Harrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juanita, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a business can be scary, especially if you aren’t too familiar with all the things you need to do in order for it to be successful. Taking a leap of faith outside of my comfort zone to start Grace 4 Purpose, Publishing Co. was necessary because it was a vision that would help so many people. This business has been on my mind for years and I knew it was something that God graced me to do.
As a writer and 3x self-published author, I wanted to be able to help others write and publish their books as well. I knew there was a greater purpose for me than to just write. During the pandemic there was a shift in my life that really allowed me to start thinking more in depth about this publishing company.
Of course so many questions ran through my mind, “can I do this”, “will anyone believe in me or support this vision” and so many other thoughts. My faith allowed me to put the doubt behind me and start this business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always had a love for writing since I was young, I honestly didn’t think back then that I had what it took to publish any books. As I got older and my faith continued to grow I stopped doubting the gifts that God created me for. My tenacity, resilience and hustle set me apart. I know that I have no choice but to wake up every day and put my best foot forward.
My days are spent doing author coaching, ghostwriting, formatting books, hosting author interviews on my podcast and more! There are late nights and early mornings, still maintaining a full-time job, work-life balance and still finding time for my own writing projects. The rewarding thing is knowing that I am making a positive impact in the lives of other people. I also know that the journey is all about what you make of it.
I have learned to fully trust in God for the direction He wants to take not just me, but my business and brand. I’ve learned that stepping out of your comfort zone is necessary when you have a purpose in life to win. I’ve learned that small wins still move you forward and to just keep going!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I moved to Ga in March of 2020 and that was the beginning of the pandemic. I am still learning myself some of the best places to go. There are a few places I’ve really enjoyed going like the Puttshack.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank Tamika Tabb for seeing the purpose in me and being such a phenomenal motivation to me and so many others.
