Meet Jonathan (C.Bear) Adams

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan (C.Bear) Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan (C.Bear), how has your work-life balance changed over time?
It’s tough balancing both of my careers in a 24 hr time. See, by day I am a Biomedical Engineer, by night and weekends, I am a professional comedian/actor. I have to balance that plus family, mental health, and training to become even better in my craft. Since my calender has been filling, it’s getting difficult to balance everything, even family. I feel good that I’m doing a great job balancing tho because communication and understanding helps when you are the bread winner.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started comedy in Jackson, Al. It was inspired by Roy Woods Jr, Bruce Bruce , and Dave Chappelle. So, my art is the art of story tell on my perspective and reality.. like being a military kid ,going to the navy,and loving making people laugh. What sets me apart i guess is my living experience. I survived being deployed to a combat zone in Marjah, Afghanistan and living in a military community being the only afro American there. My mom retired as a colonel. I am most excited about climbing this comedy ladder. I see coming from a country area of Alabama to traveling the united state to end up in Atlanta doing what I love. You asked how did I get here.. one word..AMBITION!!!. SEE, I overcame my challenges with pray, grit and screaming in my mind.. the people in this game are not nice or people persons.. some!!. The lesson that sticks out the most for me is, everybody has opinions but, you have the final say. I feel at this point I want the world to know is I’m coming.. just embrace my funny because, it could be worse..lol

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend like to play pool, so I’ll take him to sports line in lawerenceville. In Atlanta I’ll take him to lil 5 points to walk around, Coca cola museum. That’s my favorite. Of course take to my gigs in Atlanta comedy theater or laughing skull.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First shout out to Kiana Dancie for getting me this and mentoring me to be a better comic on and off the stage. This game is like the board game “SORRY” . it’s the role of the dice to see if you move around the board to get home/ to be a great Comedian but, sometimes you get bumped or you bump somebody out the way.. and trust me I’ve been bumped alot.
