We had the good fortune of connecting with Joey Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joey, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued this type of career because it’s my purpose in life. When I was a baby my mother said that a lady ask her and my father if she could speak some words that that she had got from God… The woman told her that everything that her and father wanted to do in music will come through her seed.. and it’s been on ever since.. I love the joy I get from being creative. I’m able to express myself but more importantly help people get out what they desire musically as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from everyone is the passion. I’m not someone pretending that I’m creative no!!! Music is my life!!!

I’m most proud and excited about the new waves of creativity. There’s a new style of music and I’ve been a part of every change of music from the late 90s to the 2000s to the 2010s and even in the present my music has been apart of history and I’m proud of that.

I got here because someone took a chance on me being their producer and it wasn’t easy before because everyone tried to tell me I need to sound like this person or I need to do things or make tracks this way because that was the success of someone else and I had to fight for my sound and how I did things. It was a rough battle but an artist by the name of This life.We lead. took a chance on me and the rest was history.

I learned that you have to stick to what you believe in even when no one else does because all it takes is for one person to give you a chance and when they do give it your all.

I want the world to know that I’m a firm believer in God and that any and everything is possible if you keep him first.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love going to cats cafe to get the vibes of the people.. I love walking around and shopping at Atlantic station. Or any place where there good music and good vibes

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father is the one that I seen doing music at a young age and inspired my dreams and ambitions and my mother made all my dreams come true, buying me my first keyboard and computer.
