We had the good fortune of connecting with Jo Majesty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jo Majesty, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
This is gonna be a hot take. “Never give up on your dreams.” I know that sounds crazy because most of the time this is sound advice; But sometimes you have to know how to pivot. Sometimes, the thing that you think you want, is the thing that actually leads you to what you didn’t know you wanted. Sometimes your dreams just change. There is nothing wrong with giving up something that no longer fits you. And if it really is meant to be, many times the opportunity will come back around and find you.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I pivoted. Growing up, I would plan all my major life events; my sweet 16, my college trunk/going away party, etc. So in 2016, I incorporated my company, 632 Event Management Group. I was living in Los Angeles at the time, planning smaller events and mixers when I decided to plan an art and music showcase in New York. With the help of a couple clutch friends, shoutouts to Shannie P & Bunny Patch, I was able to pull of planning everything from LA and flying in the day before the event. It was a great show. The performers were amazing, the artists were so talented, and the vendors had some dope merch. Due to budgets, I hosted. At this point in my life I hadn’t been on a stage performing in years. But something about being back on the stage ignited something in me and I decided I wanted to go back to performing my art. The rest is history.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a long weekend in Atlanta. Whenever I’m there I like to touch base with a couple music showcases that have events regularly, shoutouts to Open Mic ATL, Training Day ATL and Big Script Saturday’s. They always have a bunch of talented artists come through. I like to drive around the city and look at the murals and art instillations. Atlanta has some of the dopest street art. Definitely hit up Fat Tuesdays, and brunch at Atlanta Breakfast Club. I don’t really do dairy, but sometime I’ll cheat with a shake from The Cookout.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly it really takes a village. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my family, my friends, and my city. So shoutout to Jo Nation for always holding it down; And shoutout to Money Earnin’ Mount Vernon, the city that raised me.
