We had the good fortune of connecting with Jmoy Billingtin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jmoy, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of conventional advice I disagree with is “always stick to your original plan.” While having a well-thought-out plan is important, the ability to adapt and pivot based on unexpected challenges is crucial for success. Flexibility can lead to innovative explanations and better opportunities, and being open to change can often outperform rigid adherence to an initial plan.
These days, things rarely go as expected.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a model and influencer, my art lies in the way I express individuality through fashion and creativity. What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity—I strive to showcase unique styles that reflect not just trends, but my personal journey and values. I’m most proud of my ability to connect with my audience, emphasizing self-love and positivity while challenging traditional beauty standards.

My journey hasn’t been easy; it started with rejection and self-doubt. To overcome challenges, I focused on building resilience and leaned into my passion for the industry. I surrounded myself with supportive people, learned from every setback, and developed a strong work ethic.

Throughout this journey, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about fame or likes; it’s about making an impact and inspiring others. I want the world to know that embracing one’s uniqueness can lead to incredible opportunities, and that beauty comes in all forms. My brand is about empowerment, diversity, and celebrating individuality—values that I hold dear as I continue to grow in this ever-evolving industry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Chicago, I would plan an unforgettable week in the Fullerton Market area filled with delightful dining and memorable experiences or near the area.

Begin the trip with lunch at The Brownstone, celebrating its tasty brunch and coffee. Next, explore the Fullerton Market for local vendors and unique finds. For dinner, enjoy the renowned offerings at Bongo Room and unwind with cocktails at The Aviary in Lincoln Park.

On day two, kick off with breakfast at Intelligentsia Coffee, then visit the Lincoln Park Zoo for a casual stroll. Savor iconic deep-dish pizza at Pizzeria Uno for lunch, followed by a visit to the Lincoln Park Conservatory. Dine at The Chicago Athletic Association building known as the Circle Cherry Room, then catch a live show at The Second City for laughs.

Dedicate day three to arts and culture, starting with a hearty breakfast at Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe. Visit the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by lunch at Eataly. Explore Millennium Park and reserve a table at RPM Italian for dinner, ending the night with a performance at the Lyric Opera.

On day four, enjoy breakfast at Beatrix and take an architectural boat tour on the Chicago River. Lunch at Nico Osteria, followed by shopping on the Magnificent Mile. Dine at Osteria Gran Lubrense and sip drinks at a trendy rooftop bar in the **West Loop.

On day five, start with breakfast at Waffles Café, then explore Pilsen for vibrant street art. Enjoy authentic tacos at Taqueria El Milagro and visit the National Museum of Mexican Art. Dine at Parlor Pizza Bar in Logan Square and enjoy drinks at BellyQ.

Day six focuses on outdoor fun, starting with breakfast at Truths. Rent bikes to ride along the Lakefront Trail, enjoying the beautiful views. Pack a picnic for lunch at North Avenue Beach, then dine at Summer House Santa Monica in the evening. If possible, catch an outdoor movie at Millennium Park.

For the final day, brunch at The Smith provides a tasty send-off. Reflect on the week with a stroll through the Lincoln Park Conservatory or do some last-minute shopping at Fullerton Market. Enjoy lunch at Café Ba-Ba-Reeba! and grab a final coffee at Starbucks Reserve Roastery.

This itinerary highlights Chicago’s culinary delights and vibrant culture, creating an unforgettable week.n
