We had the good fortune of connecting with Jhette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jhette, what are you inspired by?
l’m inspired by a lot of things I think more than anything I am most inspired by Love. Love in all forms, Love as a feeling & As a state. It’s what drives me and dictates a lot of how I navigate through life & connect with people. Secondly I would say my peers are a big inspiration to me I am surrounded by so many insanely talented people its hard not to be inspired by them.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like what sets me apart personally is the same thing that I would say inspires me which is love it drives me to be my most authentic self within my life and the creation of my music. That same authenticity allows me to create without boundaries. I”m currently most excited about the new music I’ve been working on with my band- its a bunch of new sounds very different from what I’ve previously released so I’m excited for people to hear that. I’m not even half way to where I plan to be and getting to this point I’m currency at was not easy. I think my biggest challenge was getting myself to actively go after what I wanted despite my own self-doubt in the past. Thats not always easy, making that leap. The biggest lesson i learned was to get out of my own head sometimes and follow what was in my heart; also to tune out the background noise. People will always have opinions but when I feel strongly and passionately about what I’m doing I learned not to listen to those who oppose that. What I want the world to know about me is that I am who I am no matter what!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area my version of a good time always involves food a drink and seeing where the day takes us. typically I’m very spontaneous, one of my favorite spots here In Jersey City where I’m from is Taqueria the perfect place for a good taco and a cheap drink. That would followed by hopping on the path into the city or checking out a local event thats going on in the neighborhood.
