We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Mills and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesse, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has shown me that I am capable of anything. I literally started my business platform DURING the pandemic. This was crazy! Not only were we all on lockdown, but I was doing virtual lessons, not able to come in physical contact with my students. Not sure if this is obvious, but as a tumbling and yoga instructor I do need to do hands on spotting and adjustments. Me going into this with that on the forefront of my mind, was pure uncertainty. That was the push I needed, I was already trying something new and was uncomfortable. How much more uncomfortable would I be if I just went ahead and put myself out there? In all of the most uncomfortable situations that I have been through, I have always come out on the other side stronger and wiser. This would be different because I would come out on the other side with a business. lol

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Jesse Mills and I am a Tumbling & Yoga Instructor in the greater Atlanta Area. I got my start in the world of instruction through competitive cheerleading! Flash forward to 2021, I have created my own business platform, TumblingYogi.com, where I contract myself out to various businesses and help them grow in all places tumbling and yoga! I offer Cheer, tumbling, and yoga workshops, clinics, classes and private lessons, This was a long time coming for me, I always thought I would become a vet or working with animals in some capacity. After college, I began to take coaching a little more seriously and worked at different gyms and studios until one day I had a serious conversation with myself and had to evaluate the way my life was going and needed to choose a career path. I gathered all of the knowledge I gained through cheer and gymnastics, and began to develop new tumbling techniques and began researching body shapes. I dived a bit deeper into how the body works through yoga teacher training. A lot of people would think that tumbling and yoga would not overlap, but if I had been doing yoga when I was competing as a cheerleader, I probably would’ve been less prone to inquiry! If I have learned anything on the way? Its that if you fail, go back to the drawing board, you can always reinvent yourself and change how the world views you. If your thinking of starting a business or wanting to trying something you have never done before, DO IT! Don’t think about anything anyone will say, work hard, keep your head down and study your craft. What I want the world to know about me and TumblingYogi as a brand, is that growth comes in many different forms and it is my job to target those areas in need of growth and make them shine!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being that I am an Atlanta native, I know a few hidden gems around the city. I would definitely welcome them to some BANGIN food at Masterpiece on Buford HWY. This is THE best Sichuan in the city! It is amazingly comforting. After they got a nice night to rest and recharge, I would continue the day in little five! I love this places for all the cool shops and restaurants. We would also be able to walk the park! They must try a burger from the Vortex! We would have to go to Edgewood for the night life and bar hoping. The next day we would hangout at Piedmont park and walk around the area and probably take the dogs out to play a little frezbie. Then we would HAVE to go Hearth’s pizza tavern in Sandy springs, the have an AMAZING selection of pizzas and it always smells great! I would have to say my favorite areas to frequent would be midtown, little five points, Inman park, buckhead and Buford hwy(for the food obvi!)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to all of my students! I show up to classes everyday and I am so impressed with how much they fight to build skills and confidence! They have trained themselves to not take “no” for an answer. I carry that attitude with me into my everyday life. I can get so wrapped up in teaching, posting on social media accounts, and emails, it’s sometimes hard to stay in a creative space so that I can keep my students motivated. If I don’t feel that they are growing, it is a good indicator to myself that I need to reset!
