We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Love (DJ LovesKey) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeremy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor in my success is being a good human being. When you treat your customers/clients with the same care and respect as you would like, the success and money will follow. It’s all about priorities. Everybody wants to make money when they start a brand, but make sure you address the human element first, and success will be waiting for you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My last name is Love, so I start there with how I approach my DJ sets. I want to give it that love and attention so that you will ultimately love it! We all use music to connect with our emotions and ultimately I want you to feel great after hearing me DJ. If it makes you say, “WOW!! I haven’t heard that in forever!”; or, “That is my jam! Play it louder!”; then I know I’ve done my part.

Looking back over the years, the most proud was when I won this amateur DJ competition back in Indianapolis. I was just starting out and my mentor, DJ Metrognome, forced me to sign up and participate. I didn’t think I was ready for all that and he basically gave me the confidence to know that I could have fun doing it and ultimately win; which I did!!! The part that makes me really fond of that memory is that it forged some great friendships with other up and coming DJs. We’ve been able to cheer each other on as we grow on our own journeys.

I got to where I’m at today by just always wanting to grow and learn more in and around the business of DJing. No endeavor is easy, but I can’t say it’s been overly difficult. Maybe, when you love the craft, the difficulties may not feel that daunting. The journey is still in progress, but I can’t complain thus far!

The biggest lesson I could tell everyone, is to do it for the love! If you do it for any other reason, you are cheating yourself and cheating whatever game you’re in!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, I want to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to my wife! She is that battery pack in my back that keeps me going. Much love to the Hardy family for shining a light my way for this exposure. I wouldn’t be DJing if it wasn’t for Nick Saligoe (DJ Metrognome) out of Indianapolis. Before he opened Deckademics DJ School, he took me under his wing to show me the art and essence of being a DJ. That is my forever brother! Lastly, a big thank you to any and everyone that has showed love and support over the years in every way possible. Let’s keep building and growing together! This is a group effort!
