We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer McGee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being an Artist provides an outlet without boundaries for me. When I create Art or write I am able to escape into my own space. Creating a business allows me to tap into this creativity, while also having control over my time. I am able to plan work and the needs of my children.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Body Pizzazz many years ago as a Face and Body art company. We travel all over the country servicing large events and venues with cool Body Art. In 2020 everything shut down, and my life changed. I took custody of my special needs nephew and began a journey of learning how to care for him. It was eye opening to realize that there is not enough support or resources for persons like him. I began taking classes and advocating for disabled persons. As an artist I felt compelled to create art that empowers disabled persons. I created Inclusive Art House, LLC to produce art, literature, and education that promotes the self worth and inclusion of disabled persons. With the help of an amazing Atlanta based illustrator Zoey Qu, we have created several really cool and fun pieces of Art. I still own and operate Body Pizzazz, LLC and am adding the art and Izzy Can’t Talk book tour to our schedule. Body Pizzazz taught me how to manage life and art on the move as we travel to different events in different states. Isahiah has taught me what is most important, which is being grateful for what we have and enjoying every moment no matter what our situation. Isahiah struggles for independence in every part of his day. From hygiene to opening a drink, or choosing a meal he needs assistance. Yet even though he is so vulnerable he has such an impact on me and the way I prioritize what is important in life. Seeing his gradual progress toward independence is a joy like no other. I am so blessed with my health and ability, and feel it is my duty to help bring understanding and awareness for the disabled community. I want the world to see disabled people for their abilities and the value they have as humans. I am hoping that more people look for careers that involve working with Specials needs persons. It is hard work, but absolutely rewarding and life changing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is so full of life and fun! I love the Art scenes all through the city. A trip to little 5 points for some eclectic cafes and some unique art scapes. We would follow that up with a nice walk through Piedmont Park, then a evening at the High Museum for one of the many evening mingles they offer. Of course any visit to Atlanta isn’t complete without a trip to the Georgia Aquarium. End the weekend with brunch at Mary Mac’s Tea room, and shopping around Atlantic Station. Atlanta has so much to offer every person. The Fox Theater is one of the many preforming art venues that is diverse for all types of events such as music, plays, and theater, and an all around beautiful place to visit. Also, the Vortex is a restaurant like no other, although not kid friendly.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This time in my life is all about Isahiah. He is my nephew that I took custody of in 2020. He was 15 then, and now 18. He is nonverbal, has Autism, and is significantly developmentally delayed. He has taught me gratitude and patience. I have learned that the disabled community needs more resources and accessibility. I have written a Children’s book about Isahiah called Izzy Can’t Talk. This cute and funny story explains the many ways we communicate without words. The ebook is available on Amazon, or where ebooks are sold. Hardcover is available by request at any retailer or library, and available for purchase at www.inclusivearthouse.com.
