We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Nelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to combine something I loved with something I could do for a living, which is how I landed on travel advising. I was already spending so much time planning my own trips and advising on and planning trips for friends and family, that the move to make it into a small business was the logical next step. So I created Wandering Moon Escapes and could not be happier doing something that brings me joy, every single day!

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Wandering Moon Escapes apart from other travel businesses is that I focus more on client satisfaction rather than pushing for the biggest commission. As a mid-range traveler myself, I always want the best deal for my clients based on their dream trip. I won’t turn someone away because it isn’t lucrative enough for me. I think that everyone deserves to travel, and has the ability to do so. Many people think they have to save up forever for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, when that is just not true. If a client wants to go all out with a big budget, I am here for it and can fully deliver on their wishlist. But if someone needs to be conscious of the bottom line, I love the challenge of making it work, and am very proud of my ability to do so. Aside from actually planning a trip from start to finish, I want to educate clients on just how attainable travel is, and how valuable it is for their well-being and personal growth. 2 weeks of vacation a year does not limit you to vacationing for 14 days of the year.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You can do so much in a week in Atlanta! I would definintely show them the Atlanta staples, like the aquarium, World of Coke, and Piedmont Park. We would also probably spend a day on the Beltline hitting up my preferred hotspots like Ladybird, The Albert, New Realm, Hawkers, and Victory Sandwhich Bar. I’d take them for a walk through historic Inman Park just to wow them with the beautiful old Victorians. If time allowed, I’d take them up north for a day to do some hiking and hit up the wineries and breweries in the North Georgia Mountains, or go to Sweetwater Creek State Park if we wanted to stay closer to home. As for food, I don’t even know where to start. Some of my city favorites are Cypress Street, Lloyds, Two Urban Licks, Wisteria, Antico, Mellow Mushroom, and Campagnolo. Luckily, with a week’s worth of time, they could try out quite a few, depending on what they’re in the mood for. And last, but not least, I would absolutely look up what concerts were going on around the city; The Tabernacle, The Eastern, Ameris Bank Amphitheater, Buckhead Theater, The Roxy- there is never a shortage of entertainment in this city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not have made this career change without the support of my husband, Wes, and am also so thankful for my friends who have cheered me on along the way.
