We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenise Belay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenise, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing I have done as a parent that has impacted my children is teaching them not to settle, to know their worth, and to work hard so they can be a master at whatever they do. For many years I worked in corporate America and I felt devalued and underpaid. Because of this feeling I have and continue to teach my children how to get their own and to build their own empire. Their father and I strive every day to set an example for what that should look like.

What should our readers know about your business?
BMB Legacy Insurance is a full-service independent broker agency. My job is to advise you on the best coverages for your auto, home, life, and business insurance. I have over 20 insurance carriers that I can shop with to ensure my clients gets the best rate. That’s what separates us from other captive insurance agencies; we offer options. I like to call myself your “Forever Agent” because you will not have to discontinue your current services, I can just move you to a different carrier. One of the biggest challenges for me as an agent is getting people to understand the value of insurance from all aspects. Most people hate talking about insurance because it’s “not cool” and intimidating at times. One of my goals as a “Forever Agent” is to change the narrative of insurance; to make insurance fun and educational. Because let’s face it, insurance is one thing we all need and really should be more informed about. My other goal is to get as many people, especially millennials, life insurance while they’re young! This is one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your family. This is why I named the agency BMB Legacy. We believe in protecting legacies, whether it’s your family, your personal things, or your business, you worked hard to get it why not protect it. What I want people to know about me and my agency, is first, I am very down to earth, fun, and outgoing, and will make learning less stressful. I’m the agent you can talk to like a friend. We will laugh and joke while I am insuring you. Also, once you are a part of my agency you are family. I take a personal interest in all of my clients to build rapport and trust. So if you are in the market for any insurance we would love to welcome you to the family.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my girlfriend was coming in for the weekend, we are definitely hanging out in the city. I’m a foodie so we are definitely eating good everyday for every meal of the day. Some of my favorite restaurants are Two Urban Licks, Rocksteady, Apt 4B, Roc cuisine, and Slutty Vegan for lunch or dinner. For breakfast I would love to take my friends to Breakfast at Barney’s and Highland Bakery. Next I would visit the beltline, Ponce City market and a nightcap at a really nice lounge like Slush or a rooftop.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all the women entrepreneurs out there and moms that are doing it all.
