We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Woodruff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmine, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is customer satisfaction, consistency, and transparency. I’ve worked in the customer service field throughout my entire professional career and the ability to not only meet but exceed your customer’s expectations can make or break your brand. I ensure that my work is consistent and I keep the lines of communication open and flowing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve never truly considered myself a “chef”, I am simply someone who has a passion for food and I love to share that passion with others. Food is love, and I share my love by feeding the people. I started off by posting my personal daily meals on social media and my friends and followers would comment and ask for the recipe so I started posting the recipe with the meal. I would even go as far as making video complications to show how I made the meal and I would get a lot of love on those videos. I then decided to start cooking for my family and friends on a larger scale and I would post those pictures and videos and my DM’s started to flood with people asking me to cook for them. I started reaching out to other chefs for advice on getting started and once I professionally booked my first gig, the gigs kept coming in. It wasn’t difficult to start up because unbeknownst to me God had been preparing me for this moment for years so I was ready to start the journey, however there are some challenges that I do run into such as realizing my business worth. I was doing a lot of under charging in the beginning because I was afraid of losing a potential customer but in reality I was losing what I was worth in the process. I’ve learned to trust God’s timing, trust the process and know my worth. Find what you’re good at and make it work for you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Atlanta, I was born and raised here and I think it’s the best city in the USA especially for black life. If I was to plan the perfect day in Atlanta I would start with breakfast. My favorite breakfast spot is Thumbs Up on Marietta Street, the smoked chicken wings, Belgian waffles and omelets are simply delicious and cooked fresh to order. After breakfast, I would go to Ponce City Market to rent bikes and ride along the belt line getting a beautiful view of the city and vast scenery. I would follow the bike ride up with lunch at La Parilla if I’m in need of a good margarita. If I want a lit vibe I would probably go anywhere on Edgewood Avenue. If I’m looking for grown and sexy I would go to Monticello lounge for the food, music, and hookah. Atlanta is like a melting pot of black magic; there is something to feed all layers of blackness. You can party on Peter Street, wine down with poetry at Apache Cafe, sip and paint in Midtown and shop at Lenox or Little Five Points. There is something here for everyone and I love that I’m able to fulfill all of who I am in one city.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give all glory to God for the many blessing and talent that he has bestowed upon me. I am thankful for my son Lennox, he’s the motivation behind everything I do. My fiancé Teddy who inspires me to dream big and not limit myself. My mom for always lending me a helping hand and my family, friends and customers for their support.
